Default close but no cigar

I took my 50 cal. Brolin Arms rifle out hunting with me this morning.I saw a big doe at about 50 yards but no chance for a shot.Too bad, poop happens.I had her loaded with 90 grains of GOEX FFg and and a TC 240 grain XTP on the top of that.I don't know what kind of sabot, they came in a pack together.I knocked the snot out of a deer with that gun and load before so the doe this morning would have been in serious trouble had I gotten a chance to fire one at her.

This has been my story all season this year. I have seen a load of deer, but can't get a good bead on them. If I can't get a good shot, I pass. Had a beautiful seven pointer in my sights, but it was only an ass shot. I don't do them.

I still have from now until the first of January to get that shot. I will be going back to the woods on Monday for about four days. weatherman is calling for a possiblility of snow. Kind of rare for us here in Virigina, but I would welcome it gladly. Then I will have the last week just after Christmas and that will include both sexes.

I would love to put two more in my freezer. We love venison and eat it more then beef in my house.

rafsob, be careful what you wish for, I PRAYED for SNOW for this Hunting Season and the Good Lord Blessed us with so much Dang Snow that we could'nt Hunt some of our Properties, got from 4'-5'!!!!!!! I like Snow but only about a foot or less. I decided I was tough enough to try and Hunt a Piece of Property in Arkwright yesterday. Im 6'6" and figured My Long legs would get me through it, NOT! After the 400yd walk from the Barn to the Woods I was half Dead, and Im a Walker. The snow was up to My Waist and I figured I better turn back after I got another 300yds into the Woods, as I'd never in a Million Years get a Deer out of there, and I was starting to worry about me. Way too deep for even a Snowmobile. I walked out, made it to My Truck, Thanked GOD I made it, POUTED and drove down off the Hill out of SKI Country and Hunted the Flats at a lower elevation with less Snow, 2 Feet.

Hey BP, if we got that much snow here in Viriginia it would be weird. I have never experienced that kind of snow. I can only say I have seen photos of this kind of snow fall. I agree, with that much snow you couldn't get the deer out. But then again I don't think the deer would be out and moving around. They would be huddled down or not:

Oh well!
