I have over 20 scopes including 2 Omega 3 X9 and one 1X5 They are the best I like them much better than any of the others even the Leopold which is the best of the others. I use the 1.5 X5 in very thick brush at the lowest power in case of a running shot, I use the 3 X 9 for every thing else. Every body has personal preferences I like and use the BDC others don't but the basic scope is the best.

The field of view varies with the size of the objective lens as well as the power, with that and the fact that the low light capability also varies with the size of the objective lens makes it wise to consider a large objective lens. My personal experience says the only time a really wide field of view is important is on a close range moving shot. The 3 power on a 3 X 9 is capable of doing everything needed for low power in normal hunting the 1 X 4.5 scopes come into there best use a close range stalking like 50 yds and under. I find the Nikon 3X9 with the Omega BDC very good for me I use it with the BDC for range shooting of knockdowns and gongs to 250 yds with a load of 120 gr of Blackhorn and a Shock Wave 250gr and the BDC is right on with this load.
I have had a number of scope give up under the recoil of my muzzle loaders so now I buy the Nikon Omega and have been for a number of years with out any problems. The other brand which has held up for me is the Bushnell. |
