My friend's daughter uses 70 grains of JSG and a 240 grain XTP. She's taken several deer with that load and it has performed nicely. Now JSG isn't as hot as T7, with T7 or BH 209 I'm guessing that 60 grains would equal to or exceed 70 grains of JSG.

I wouldn't go lower than 60 grains though, and keep the shots close.

Thanks for all the input! i am using a shockwave and might try running that 70-80 gr range for the kid. Sounds like that should to the job.

I shoot a 295 gr powerbelt with 100 gr of tripple seven pellets. The recoil is very low and i have no problems tracking deer.

I agree that starting with around 70 grains is a good starting point for a 250 gr bullet.
