What primers everyone useing
I am useing 777 ffg lose powder. shotting a TC Endover. useing fusion primers. Have any of you had better luck with one over the other? Cleaner less crude ring ext.

Where I live I have the choice of Wincheter W209 or the real expensive Winchester Triple Seven 209 primers. So I use the Winchester W209.
In percussion cap I use RWS 1075 or CCI magnum caps. |
I swapped the 209 breech plug on my Omega with the .25 acp cal conversion from MuzzleLoadingBullets.com
![]() http://muzzleloadingbullets.com/thom...er_encore.html It works great with Triple 7 loose powder, less crud rings, cleaner barrel. I haven't tried it with pellets. I spoke to the folks at BH 209, they said it doesn't work well with their powder. I've heard that others have used small pistol mag primers in the .25 acp cal brass and had no miss-fires using BH 209 I reload, so priming the .25 acp cal brass isn't a problem. They sell a hand-held kit to load the brass for around $30. |
I'm also using the Fusion primers. Is there something else just as good out there for cheaper? Probably, but so far the Fusion primers have given me no issues and I really like them. The reason I tried them is I have had great luck with the Fusion rifle bullets. I've also used the Fusion muzzle loading bullets with great success. I've been more than pleased with them.
For #11 caps, I use CCI Magnum ones. For powder I'm using 100 grains of Pyrodex pellets. |
You can't go wrong with W209's.
|
for one gun, cci 209m,
percussion cci #11 mag. or it's twin win #11 mag (win. seem a little tighter on the nipples) |
Win 209 right now.

W209. They fit tight in the Triumph, with no blow back!

I use mostly W209's but i hate how expensive they are now as compared to what they were a couple of years ago. |
I use the Win W209 Primers and the Win T7's. Now it may be me but and I know there both good but the Win W209's are a tad bit better. Now there probably the same Primer marketed in a different name (mabey not) but that's just my experiences. Although I have 7 boxes of 100 of the T 7's vs 2 of the Win W 209's. I cant fnnd the Win W209's anymore so I sticked up on the T 7's. There both good.
I also use them both with Pellets and Powder. If you have a Primer Bullet Sabot Combo and it works, who cares who's Primer it is, use it. Dont change what is'nt broke. (BP) |
I use the W209's in my Knight Disc. They wouldn't work in the wife's Triumph. It works good with the Remington 209's. I just bought a box of the high dollar Winchester 209's for T-7 pellets. I hope they work on her Triumph.

I use Winchester 777 primers. I had read speculation that normal shotgun primers may actually start the bullet moving before the powder fully ignites. I have no idea if this is true, but I switched anyway. No complaints so far as my gun is shooting great.

I shot T7 for a while. I have sworn off of it now. But that is a different subject. I ran across a good deal on 1,000 of the Remington MZ 209's. So I bought them. I also have about 20,000 W-209's for my shotgun. So I have tried both of them. Honestly I could not tell any real difference between the two. But everyone said a few years back that you needed to shoot the MZ specific 209's so I bought a 1,000. Once I use them up I might try something different. But I am having good luck with them.
I keep telling myself I am only going to shoot straight BP in all my MZ's from now on. But I keep reading about so many of you guys who like the BH-209. And I keep thinking I might want to try a canister. Then the couple of times I almost bought a canister I just got pi.... off at the price, and the package is not even a pound of powder. I will probably break down and by a canister in the off season. But then again I might not. BP is working real good with my own bullets that I cast. And I am a cheapie. Tom. |

I also shoot an Endeavor. I use Win 209 and Rem STS and have good results with both but I am using a breach plug that has been modified by drilling it full length with a #21 drill and tapped for an inset Lehigh vent liner. This has improved my groups lessen the carbon deposits by at least 50 % and worked with complete dependability.
