Default What you got ready?

Here is the scenario...

Hunting spot at a premium white tail area on private land opened up and your invited to go with a friend.

Shots will be around 100 yards or closer.
Deer average between 180-240 pounds.
Monster bucks have been spotted.
Undergrowth is dense in some areas to almost open fields in others. You will be hunting from a blind.
You leave in thirty minutes!!! Are you ready for this!!

Scopes of magnification will be allowed.
What muzzleloader are you going to grab off the rack to hunt with?
What powder?
What projectile will you use?
What distance will you limit your shots to?

No scopes are allowed!

A fun post - Great!!!!!!!

Since it is whitetail....

Scopes of magnification will be allowed.
What muzzleloader are you going to grab off the rack to hunt with?

I am taking a Knight DISC Elite #73 - 45 cal with a Bushnell Elite 3200 with a 600 DOA reticlule.

What powder?

Triple 7-2f 120 grains with a MMP 40/45 Light Tan sabot

What projectile will you use?

Lehigh 40-200 grain DOA

What distance will you limit your shots to?

The scope is sighted in with a 6" PBR - so essentially the scope is zeroed from 20 yards to 204 yards. 200 yards is my self imposed max - unless the are a bunch of just right circumstances.

No scopes are allowed!

A Renegade stock with a GM-LRH 50 cal barrel sighted with TC adjustable fiber optic sights...

What powder?

Triple 7-3f 100 grains

What projectile will you use?

Lehigh 40-200 grain DOA

What distance will you limit your shots to?

The gun is sighted in 2" high @100 - 150 yards is workable... 150 yards with a rest is really do-able. 175 yards is my self imposed max with a rest no wind and everything in my favor...

My bags are packed and I am taking my Encore Endeavor with a laminated thumbhole stock and a Simmons Aetec 3-10x40 scope. I would be shooting 110gr. of BH209 behind a Hornady FTX .430/265gr. bullet in a Harvester short black sabot. Might take the omega for open sights and shoot some BH209 and a Hornady XTP .430 300gr. bullet but I would have to take the scope off and sight it in. No time for that.
OOPS. I forgot. I would limit my shots to anything inside of 200 yards as long as I had a good rest. Obviously this is with the Endeavor.

Great thread

Easy, since I only have 2 deer muzzleloaders...A .54 flintlock and a .50 Knight Disc with a 3x9x40 Leupold on top of her....

I keep all my components in my gun case for the Disc...This includes a powder flask and enough bullets, sabots and cleaning supplies for 15 shots, so I can grab and go...For the flintlock I have a hunting pouch ready to go...

1st scenerio...
Knight Original Disc with 22 inch barrel...
Powder...80grs of Goex FFF
Projectile...300gr .430 Hornady XTP...
Max Range...150 yards...

2nd...
My .54 caliber flintlock that I made in the 80s...
Powder...80grs Goex FFF
Projectile... .530 home cast round ball
Max range...100 yards

With scope:
Omega X7 with Simmons 4x32 scope
loaded with Speer GDHP .44 cal 240 gr pushed by 110gr BH209
ranges out to 125yds (with a rest, my current comfort level)

Without scope
Omega X7 with peep site
loaded with Hornady FBP 350 gr pushed by 90gr BH209
ranges out to 75yds (also with a rest)

Kind of an easy question since I only have one ML.

All you crazies and your guns.

I have one ML, so I would take it for both scenarios.
White UltraMag .504. with 90 gr T7 ff behind a Bullshop 460 gr conical.
Scope is a Bushnell 3-9X which shoots this load 2" high at 100 yds. and would be removed to use the factory open sights out to 75 yds.
Like SHulion, I would hope to be able to check the open sights before taking a shot at game, since I usually use it with the scope.
