All mine have scopes and the front site removed for low scope clearance. I guess I'll be staying home on this one.

With scope: mk85, 100 gr equiv of black mag 3, 260 gr nosler with hph-12 sabot. Without a scope- I'm taking my bow cause I can not see iron sights good enough to make a ethical shot on a deer.

MountainDevil54 09-25-2010 01:10 PM

IMO if you can use bow sights and get that close to deer, theres no reason why you cant see a muzzle loaders sights and shoot 50 yards

Well, I'm a little late to this party (just got back from the hunting lease).

Thirty minutes? Heck, I'll be standing in the driveway in five minutes waiting to be picked up. You are driving, aren't you?

In my right hand is my .50 Omega X7 wearing a 4X Simmons ProDiamond ready to be loaded with 105 grains GOEX FFFg under a 300 grain Gold Dot. Anything within 175 yards is in big trouble if conditions are right.

In my left hand is the TC Hawken with its .50 GM LRH barrel and tang peep sight. It will be loaded with 250 grain Gold Dots over 95 grains GOEX FFFg. I'll stretch that one to 125 yards - but no farther.

I wonder what the Weasel is bringing?

oldsmellhound 09-26-2010 03:13 PM

I can't speak for the weasel, but he recommended I bring the CVA Staghorn I bought in
1995 that CVA keeps sending me letters about. I don't have time to open them.
Anyways, I'll be loading it with a 560 grain conical, on top of 150 grains of T7.
Weasel recommended that I limit my shots to 350 yards, but 400 max if it is a really big buck.
