Rifling twist must be done on the inside. Your only other option is to turn the barrel inside out.
Are you saying you need to turn it inside out first, then twist it with the pipe wrenches to change the rate of twist, and then turn it inside in again? If you have pictures of the process, please post them. How far should I turn the wrenches to change my .45's twist from 1:30 to 1:16.375?

I have a question. How do I change my .50 cal barrel to a 30-30 odd 456 muzzleloader? Also what load do you recommend for this bullet?

Man, I was following all this right up to this point; but now I'm confused. I always thought that the shooter was able to determine the twist of a rifle by how much off-vertical he held it while shooting. You are suggesting that it can be done ahead of time? This is truly revolutionary thinking!

You need a stepladder and Hip Boots to read this thread.

I wouldn't recommend that WOODTICK. Stepladders and Hip Boots are a very unsafe combination. However, you can use scaffolding with either Hip Boots or Chest Waders. If you're going use a step ladder I recommend nine or eleven-inch rubber knee boots.
