Default Good day with the Wolf

Took my brother in laws CVA Wolf out to 20 and 50 yards today. I went and bore coated it and wanted to shoot it to get it all cured up.

Shot the normal load out of it. 90gr Blackhorn209, 295gr Powerbelt and used CCI 209 primers. This rifle uses a factory breech plug.

After sighting it 1" high @ 20 yards i moved out to 50 and was surprised to see how far up it shot. 15 clicks down and perfect!

3 shot group @ 50 yards, no barrel cool down.

This scope is an old Weaver K 2.5 made in El Paso Tx. Very clear but 2.5x sucks! It makes that 50 yard target look like its 200 yards away! LOL

I did shoot twice more for a 5 shot group. Heres the result,

9 shots total today including the 20 yard sight in. This is how the breech plug looks,

Im thinking about trying 100 yards but dang! If that 50 yard target looked 200 yards away, thats going to be a real chore at 100

It sure seems those Wolfs can shoot. Clean too. At their price, what's not to like?

That is some good shooting there.

Them old Weaver scopes were good scopes. I had one for the longest time and then for Christmas was given a fancy 3-9x40 power and changed it out. Not because there was anything wrong with it. Ended up giving it to my nephew for a 30-30 he had that he wanted a scope on.

Well i got out to 100 yards.

90gr bh209 - cci 209 - 295gr powerbelt. I have noticed that the Wolf's have been no where close to the accuracy i used to get when using the cci 209M primers. Its only these 2 rifles that act up and open the groups wide with the standard cci's. For fun i took 3 more shots using Winchester W209's.

Im happy after the 3 shots marked in Blue. Those were with the W209 primers!

The W209 primers though were a bit dirty, there was a very light coating of yellowish/gray fouling on the primer end of the breech plug.

Almost forgot.... That 2.5 sucks! I looked through the scope, pulled my head up and looked at the target with the naked eye and then looked through the scope again.. If colorado allowed 2.5x scopes, i'd go with open sights! LOL TINY sight picture @ 100 yards.

3 shots with those Winchester W209s and 3 shots with cci 209s.

I hardly cleaned out anything when i used straight cci's.

Those W209s are friggin dirty! I couldnt believe the chunks of carbon i cut out of the breech plug.

If you guys keep showing results on the Wolf, I may just have to pick one up. I spend more and more money because of you guys. Going to tell my wife that the forum guys made me do it and not the devil.
