When i first got this Knight 52 LRH i wasn't thrilled about using 300grn bullets on Deer. After shooting so much game and understanding the Lehigh design it's just not needed.

I was talking to Sabotloader and he said boy, it would be nice if Dave made a light .458 220grn bullet or heavier for the Knight 52. Well it didn't take me long to buy into that. That was a great idea and now i got to get Dave to agree. Well, that part was easy and i had bullets in the mail box on Friday.

The bullet ended up being a .458 220grn bullet. And yes they are pretty.:s4: I'm going to show some different picks of it right now.

As you can see, the bullet is short and fat. Now this bullet probably wont set any records with a BC, but at 200 yards and under, it wont much matter.

I did Chrono this bullet at the Muzzle, 100 yards, and 200 yards. I will post the numbers below. I did not work up the BC yet. Maybe someone else can beat me to it.

Bullet- .458 220grn Lehigh
Sabot- Knight grey .458/52 sabot
Primer- Federal 209A
Powder- 130grns by volume BH209
Temp- 62 degrees
Wind- 15mph
Chrono- ProChrono using 5 shot averages at all distances.
MV-2163 avg
100yard velocity-1621 avg
200yard velocity-1258 avg

Now to the good part. This bullet was extremely accurate. I alway's expect Elites to shoot like this and i wasn't let down at all. Of course this is not an Elite, it's a LRH with the forked recoil lug like the Elite.

On the pic below you will actually see two groups. After shooting the first bullet high i lowered the scope. Now i had another target up before getting the bullet ready in case you are wondering. Now the next 5 shots are just cutting the bull out. I was overly impressed to say the least. The Chrono is right under that group as well. Now the three shots right of the bull is a another story.

Now i take the Chrono and place it under the target at 200yards. I take 5 shots thru the chrono and go get the readings. I dont no what happened to that picture??? So now i bring the chrono back to 100yards and shoot three more times. For some reason this 3 shot group moved slightly right of the bull. It was very windy but i was a little confused. Probably how i held the ML.

I also want to mention about sabots. I never look at sabots or care what they look like. My concerns are the accuracy and consistencies of the MV of the bullet sabot combination. I did so much shooting i could not help but notice all these grey sabots with the petals sheared off. I mean completely off. Just a bunch of the cups of the sabot laying around. Here's a pic of what i'm talking about.

I can assure you, as bad as those sabots look, that in no way effected my accuracy at 100yds or two hundred yards.

BTW- This same gun in a 1/24 twist would be awesome. The 1/26 is good, but a 1/24 would be the ticket with out a doubt. It would shoot the long bullets even better, and the short bullets will just punch out holes.:woot:
