1/26 twist really appealed to me.
In all honsety i think it would make a good standard on all DISC based barrels even in a 45. I would kill for a faster twist 45 but not too fast. 1-26 seems like a good trade off and easier to stabalize longer bullets with less powder.

aaaa Yep! and that is exactly why I wanted this gun... and it really helps that i like the looks, the feel, and the way it shoots... really makes me wonder about all the status of all the other ML's standing along side...

Beautiful gun Pete. I'm glad its working out so well for you. No matter what twist you are talking about it is some sort of compromise. Thie 1 in 26 must be about perfect for what you are shooting. I wonder how many of those .52s are out there. Do you think Knight is going to make any more guns in that caliber?

Ya i really do like it... I am or was sitting in the living room thinking - I really should sale the Extreme 50 MHC - it was the designated elk gun shooting the .458/300, but at this point I am totally happy with the 52. The only thing I would do is buy an additional 500 sabots from Knight just to have on hand.

I would almost bet you that you will see another 52 offering from Knight - I think they believe it is a superior caliber gun but I on the other hand think the twist is almost ideal for the projectiles I would choose to shoot from an elk gun.

I have a White U-Mag with a 1/24 twist that is an awesome shooter and is or would be a great elk gun but the Knight is so much cleaner in the breech + has the ability to shoot BH when I choose to do so, and is much easier (lighter) to pack around all day than the U-Mag, well at my age anyway.

How many - I really do not know, something to ask the Knight reps... but I am thinking it is a low number. When I contacted Harvester about building a sabot for them - they were not interested at all because of the low demand or requests they have received. When I was hunting high and low for sabots I talked to Del Ramsey (MMP) about sabots - he also said the number of guns out there was very low and that Knight controlled that sabot.

I am thinking it was hard to convince a normal ML hunter to buy into the 52 market when there are only two sabots available and so few weight varieties in the bullets on the market.

But with all of that I am glad I took the plunge as long as I can get sabots...
