Default mmm better looking then before

Back in march I had a issue when leaving for a florida trip and pawned my triumph bow and 22.

Well I got them out today a short 6 months later.
My triumph looks nicer then she did out of the box. Well not really but it sure felt like the day I opened her up.

now here is the worry part. On my last hunt in dec of 09 I did not get a shot on a deer and thus it was loaded. When I went to the pawn shop I realized it was loaded and the owner said it was ok since there was no primer. My plan was a short two weeks and it turned into 6 months.

SO I am trying to figure if I should push it out and clean it or go fire it off and see if it fires before cleaning. I took the breech plug out and no rust on it anywhere on the gun and I ran a short rod through the barrel with a wipe and nothing inside.

So would you go fire her and see if the 777 is worth the money?

If the bore is clear - shoot it - it will go boom just fine.... although the safe thing would be to pull the BP and push it out. That will give you an opportunity to inspect the bore also....

she looks clean I think I will run a long cleaning rod with a patch with just alittle rubbing alchole and see what it looks like.

Lets say it comes out spot less would you fire it.

I'd play it safe and remove the bullet and load rather than fire it. It's been out of your hands for 6 months - there's no way knowing what someone else did.

jaybe has a good point but if i were my gun and was confident of the bore ahead of the bullet - yep! i would shoot it out on my next range trip... but, I have a lot of confidence in the gun the powder and your abilty to load??

While it would be interesting to see if it would fire, I would push it out. Like mentioned, its been out of your control for too long. Why take the chance.

+1 I would have pushed the load out as soon as I realized it was in there.

I agree, had it became theirs I would have reminded the guy. I told him it was there and did not have the stuff to push it out. I figured he would say here clean it. He said it was ok and he would note it on my account should it become theirs. I had no intention of letting them have my 800 setup, my 10/22 and my 600 bow setup for 400 bucks. I pawned it to cover part of my dad half of the trip money to florida to avoid being broke. he said he would cover the pawn fees and the cost to get it out. He was running short most of the months and I figured it would be ok to let it slide till now. It really never hit me till about june it was sitting there loaded. I do not think anyone did anything with it. When they tagged it they tagged the two zippers togather with thier tie so it could not have been open expect by reprinting a new tag.

I don't know why anybody leaves a muzzleloader loaded after the season. Whats so hard about shooting the load out or pushing it out thru the breech?
