I don't know much about the various Knight models. Can someone tell me the differences between the Elite and the Extreme? Which one has the best reputation and was there much difference in original retail price.

I don't know much about what the original prices were. The elite came with no open sights. It has more of a taper to the barrel which makes it less muzzle heavy and it also has what they called a cantilevered lug which gives it more of a free floating barrel. The reciever area and the stocks were the same.

The Knight 'Original' DISC (orange DISC) preceeded both the Extreme and the Elite. Towards the end of the Oringinal DISC run, the switched stock to the current design and changed the name the DISC Extreme. It comes with open sights and has a simple recoil block. I believe the orignal Extremes were not floated. Later in their run they did become floated as it is cheaper to do. The Elite is an Extreme with the barrel turned down to a smaller diameter and more tapered and no open sights. The addition of the 'Forked" Recoil lug aided in the the flotation of the barrel. I am also going to say early in the Elites life - barrels that passed a more rigid inspection were used for the Elites.

It is greatly assumed that the Elite will shoot more accurately than the Extreme and in most will do just that and the stock to barrel fit of the Extreme is not constantant and not always the best. But, if you get a good Extreme it will shoot right along with an Elite.

Early in the production of Extremes and Elites - the stocks were not universal. The Extreme has to filler plastic strips at the end of the recoil blocks. If you want the stock to fit an Elite with the cantelever recoil lug you would have to remove those pieces of the stock. Late in life when they were just trying to make things works the stock were all molded as Elite stocks and Extremes were put in them also and the became floated barrel versions.

If I remember right the Elite was a $600 + gun.

There are people on this board much more versed than I so corrections should occur.

I will tell you I have an Extreme that will shoot with any Elite out there, but it is an early model and fits tightly and snugly in the stock. No barrel floating at all.

Semi, I am pretty sure that elite would have a 1 in 30 twist. They made some 45's with a faster twist (1 in 20 I think) If I am not mistaken, they were the original disc rifle.

52 cal - 1/26
50 cal - 1/28
45 cal - recent models - 1/30 (include late model Original DISC and all Extreme - Elite's)
45 cal - early models - 1/20 (Early Original DISC's only up to serial #2291 on Blued models and #5043 on Stainless)

The Elite you might be looking at, is 1/30 for a 45, so if you might shoot long bullets (lead free) like a Barnes or Lehigh - you might need to shoot a pretty significant load to stabilize the longer 40 cal bullets.

Also another fact Knight's are rated for 150 grains of T7, not that you or I might shoot that much but they can.

I would wait for the new ones two of them should be very update and nice.

I might have to do that if the guy comes off of his asking price a little. Never owned a Knight. I sure would like to see if that thing will shoot my .41 caliber/210 grain Gold Dots.

After shooting the .45 GM barreled Renegade with a variety of bullets I'm becoming somewhat a fan of the .45 with 180 & 200 grain bullets.
