T/C .50 cal. Impact muzzleloader info.

It's been a while since i have been on here. Wondering if anyone has tried the new Impact muzzleloader. Looking to get one for my 12 year old son. What are the pro's and con's, like them or hate them. For $250 I think would be a great starter gun to grow with? Any comments are welcome.

There are some guys on the site that really like the CVA Wolf and if I remember right its about the same price. As for the Impact, the only thing that I don't like about it is the breech plug. It doesn't have to the nice one that the Triumph has. However I think the Wolf has one like the Triumph. Every gun has it's pros and cons. One of the biggest thing is the fit of the gun. Have your son put them up to his shoulder and see what fits the best. Also the CVA Accura is on sale thru Midway for almost half off. That would be a great deal. That would be a muzzleloader that would last his lifetime. I have the Triumph Bone Collector and love that gun. Sometimes if you watch GunBroker, you can get that muzzleloader for 100 dollars off.

I bought an Impact awhile ago. Took it back to the store the next day. Worst piece if crap that I ever had. Certainly did not have the quality of any TC product I have owned. I wrote a review about it on here somewhere but can't find it right now. For the money I would buy your son a CV Wolf which comes with a quick release breech plug and to me a better gun overall. I noticed just yesterday in my local Walmart they are selling the Wolf for $127.00 blue/black and $157.00 Camo/blue. That's a good buy!

the new cva wolf with QRBP is $167 at www.rrarms.com and $225 for the new cva optima with QRBP. Much better rifles IMO and no funky ****ing system.

I agree with MD54. I haven't shot an impact but I did handle one for awhile and I wasn't impressed. For the money you could pick up a clearance old model cva accura (awesome gun) or an Optima. My local sportsman's has a stainless steel Optima for $209, and I would think that it would be a better gun.

The impact is definately a starter gun but the trigger on the Wolf would ruin a new shooter.

man the Accura trigger would destroy a new shooter! The Wolf is nice, mine runs about 3lbs but i notice thats its lightening up the more i shoot. But that Accura trigger, some new guy buys one and shoots it, hes going to be swearing up a storm finding something else on the market thats close to matching it LOL.

It has been my understanding you think the Accura has a good trigger. A good trigger doesn't 'destroy' a new shooter, rather it helps a new shooter. It surprises me you think the Accura is bad for a new shooter.

Aha. So you were being facetious. Actually, it is quite easy for me to find a rifle with a better trigger than the Accura. All i need do, is walk over to the gun rack, and pick up one of the Omega.

the omega's trigger doesnt come anywhere close to my Accura's! Not even in the same ball park. Heck the only other rifle i have that can out do it, is out cva hawken and thats only because the trigger is adjustable lol.

If you ever chance to visit the Black Hills, we can shoot the Omega side by side with the Accura, and then thou will 'know'.
