I'd skip the Impact, and I'd skip the Wolf. Everyone's looking for a bargain to start out. Thing is, "starter" guns need upgrading. Get him a real, solid rifle, that will last a lifetime the first time.

This is all I know about an Impact. I would love to get my hands on one and shoot it so I could really give you a fair appraisal of the rifle and how it performs, but I live a long way from any store that carries one, and I really am not in the market to purchase another rifle.
I asked the people at T/C a series of questions and even sent them links to some of the forums like this one, where the Impact was discussed. But this was the response I got from T/C reference my questions. Hello Dave, thanks for the note. I’m also concerned with what you’re hearing regarding the Impact. I’d love it if you could please send some links to what you’ve seen. We have not heard that from the folks that we talk with and in fact, the Impact has performed extremely well in recent field tests by the American Hunter, Guns&Ammo (article attached) and Petersen’s Hunting. The stock is the same composite material used in both the Omega and the Triumph so there would be no difference there. The barrel is actually the same barrel as on the Omegas so again, there should be no difference. As far as the projectiles, we consistently get the best performance out of our 250gr Shockwave bullet. As you know, each gun seems to have a preference, so shooting a few different bullet weights and grains would determine the best load for the gun. For conicals, we have a new offering which is the Northwest Explorer. It has a 1:48 twist and due to its design and #11 primer ignition, meets most of the Western States regulations. See the gun here- http://www.tcarms.com/firearms/northwest_explorer.php Thanks again for your support of T/C products. If I haven’t answered all your products, please just drop an email back to me. Regards. Craig Cushman Director of Marketing |
Bought a T/C Impact about 2 weeks ago shot 240 gr hornandy xtp out of it and held a 7/8 in group at 100 yd's also shot 250 gr tmz barnes same group size at 100 yds but a lot harder to load after 1st shot but gun shot very well and was easy to clean.

More options other then powerbelts and FPB's would be awesome if you owned a TC with the QLA. Thanks for sharing that with us. |

Their Northwest Explorer had to have a #11 cap system because of the regulations out there. They wanted to tap into that market. But I will add.. if you prepare that rifle correctly, they are just as dependable as a 209 primer. They claim it will shoot conical bullets.
What I would like to see is a traditional rifle with a barrel like you find on a White Model 97. Doc made a couple of them and I have to admit I was sure tempted to purchase one. Now that would be the perfect rifle for out west where they have those regulations. Why a rifle company does not make a barrel and rifle to match that White, is beyond me. I would think it would be a good selling rifle, but them I am not their market research department. |
Today I had to go to the city. I stopped at the local gun shop to get some musket caps ($7.99  :bash: ) for 100 caps. That is getting out of control. I paid $1.79 for 50 .22 bullets. Something is not right here.
Anyway, they had a T/C Impact on the shelf. I asked to look at it and they were more then willing to show it to me. T/C Impact blue/black .50 caliber a synthetic stock, with the additional butt plate spacer. Sticker Price $249.00 I saw nothing wrong with the stock to barrel or hardware fit. It was smooth, tight and solid. The stock had no rubber type feel to it. It was a good solid stock IMO and even the spacer fit real nice. The barrel locked up nice and tight, and opened and closed with little to no effort. I pulled back the hammer and tested the trigger. The trigger had very little to no creep and broke at about three pounds I am guessing. Very nice trigger actually. If this rifle has an Omega barrel as Craig Cushman claims (and he should know) I think this would be an excellent shooter. I pulled the rifle to my shoulder and aimed across the store at a large elk head on the wall. The rifle drew very nice, settled into the shoulder perfect for me, and my face pulled an automatic sight picture with the fiber optic sights between the eyes of that bull. Also I noted that as I held the rifle, aiming at the elk, I was very steady and solid and did not waver around at all. I was so very impressed I knew I better put that thing on the shelf and get out of there. All the way home I was tempted to turn around and go purchase that rifle. That's how impressed with the rifle I was. In fact I might go back there tomorrow, I want that rifle. I am not saying that all of the people that disliked the Impact are wrong. Each person views something different then another. But IMO I really liked the feel of that rifle. I just wish they would let me test shoot it. But I have to tell myself that the wall does not have anymore room unless I start to sell off some of these rifles. |
I took a good look at the Impact in Cabala's Bargain Cave a few months back. Played with it for about five minutes. Like Cayugad, I really could not find fault with it. Thought it was a real nice gun at a good price.
Now here's what you do Cayugad. Plop down on your favorite chair - feet up - get real calm and comfortable. Now close your eyes and visualize that gun. Once you get a clear picture in your head, say "I don't need another gun" seven times. Then get up, head for the truck, and go buy the darn thing. |
gee semi, how did you know, how did you know:happy0157:........karl
