Man i love the Rockies in summer!
My dad, step mom, brother, nephew and I all took a drive into the Sangre De Cristo mountains this morning and BBQ's ribs, potato salad and sweetcorn. We ate our feast, relax for a bit and then took my truck up to the top of the mountain. We were at just over 12,000 feet when we got out of the truck and started hiking to an area as we caught a glimpse of something way out in the distance. I can't say right now what they were but i'll post the movies as soon as i put them together :party0005:
Spanish Peaks ![]() ![]() Awesome ledge where i was filming. I only have a 10x zoom but it was enough to tell me what the animals were. ![]() As fat and out of shape as he is, My boy was right on our heals for the most of the hike, ![]() No clue what kind of tree this was but check out the pine cones in bloom! ![]() ![]() |
Awesome pics!! Thanks for posting them.

I'd be willing to bet it's a type of red pine.... :D The West is hard to beat. Got on a couple fish in WY yesterday..

Here are a couple of pictures taken in our back yard this morning. There is a couple city street a way off in the distance below the horizon. Mule deer is what they are. The deer are kind enough to sculpt them lilac bush to the left, and behind the ash tree.

MD.......... those pics are over rated.....
You need to move east where we have TRAFFIC.......POLUTION......MORE TRAFFIC.....MORE POLUTION.....HOUSES ON TOP OF HOUSES.....AND I WILL SAVE THE BEST FOR LAST.........OBAMA!!!!!!!! you can't get those things in the rockies..:barmy: |
I may have got you beat jaybez, in addition to all the traffic, pollution, houses on top of houses, urban sprawl, we also have Mayor Richard Daley- the most rabidly anti-gun politician I've ever seen (and an idiot to boot). So now since the Supreme Court struck down his illegal handgun ban, he's crafted a whole new set of regulations that still makes it almost impossible to own a handgun.
So with all, that, who wants to live out West??????? :) |
Nice pictures. I bet you don't have the mosquitos like we are having here. Ron, are those triplet fawns?

Them tree with the red cones could maybe be Bristlecone Pine. Never knew they had such pretty red cones though. Did you see any Pika up there? Big country like that kinda makes one feel something strange. |
