I went to my local sporting good store to get some muzzleloader 209 primers and since its not hunting season they did not have anything at all for muzzleloaders. They do carry regular 209 primers so I was wondering if you could use them in an inline muzzleloader? I can't afford the $20 hazmat fee so I'm kind of stuck, unless I wait until September when they said they would start stocking for muzzleloaders. Thanks.

Yep, they work fine...It was only about 5 years ago when I started seeing "muzzleloading" 209 primers...I think they aren't as hot to help with the crud ring from 777...I still buy CCI 209s as I shoot Pyrodex and Goex...

shoot them cheap 209 primers. They work fine. Have you all noticed the price of #11 caps in the stores? They are more expensive then .22 caliber ammo now. The last store I stopped in was $7.99 for a tin. On line they are $42.00 a 1000 but then you get hit with that $25.00 hazmat fee. What a rip off.

i've tried the Remington Black Powder primers and the Winchester 777 primers. Neither did anything for the 777 crud ring; indeed, the 777 primers made the crud ring worse. Pinnacle powder does not like Winchester 777 primers at all; they cause vertical stringing in all my guns.
Use plain old 209 shotgun primers; you get better results and save money too.
