Default Killed A Bunch This Week End

Hey guys, I arrived at the hunting lease mid-day Friday and stayed until early afternoon today (Sunday). The heat was brutal with temps in the low 90's and humidity that would rate five star Customer Reviews for a sauna manufacturer.

Still, I toughed it out for a couple of range sessions during which I managed to kill a whole slew of these.

I was wearing shorts and a tee shirt. Those suckers really did a number on my legs. They seem to think insect repellent is a special sauce.

Glad you survived. I noticed you hadn't posted for a while, I was about to send them looking for you.

Anyone could have easily found me by going toward the sound of the buzzing, slapping and cursing.

I'll have a neat range session report after I get the targets scanned.

That is a big friggin bug. What is it?

You think one of those Thermacells would keep them at bay?

We get those monster horse flies too on our property.

The bite is VERY painful and when they are around we all carry wooden swatters. We just cut the ball and rubber band from the old paddle ball game.

Its kinda hard to run from them when you are in waist deep water trying to catch some smallmouth. The paddle works great but its almost impossible to hit them until they land on you.

In my area, the hotter it gets the more abundant they become. Repellents seem to have NO effect at all on stopping them and they are very fast.

We have those rascals in the Charlotte area. What drives me nuts is that when I go fishing or hunting with my brother those flies will bite the heck out of me and leave him alone. When I come out of the woods in early bow season griping about mosquitos nobody else had trouble with them. I do love using bullfrog sun tan lotion when I'm fishing at the beach, keeps mosquitos off and I dont get sunburnt-good stuff
