Black Powder Cartidges
#1
I have just recently switched over to shooting black powder out of my 45-70 Pedersoli Sharps. I just love that smell and the sight of a plume of smoke being fired from the barrel. Also I guess I'm influenced by the movie "Quigley Down Under". Those of you that have seen it will understand. Oh I almost forgot to mention that my model is the "Quigley" model. Anyways so far I am very pleased with the results. The question that I have is how does one clean the very bottom inside of the cases. I used a brush to clean out the inner walls of the cases but upon inspection I noticed the bottom of the case was still dirty.
Does anyone have any ideas or sugestions on how to get that particular part of the case clean?

Hot water soap and a breach plug brush. Submerge the cases in hot water with a bit of Dawn added let them soak for 3 minutes brush while submerged with a breach plug brush [has the bristles on the end instead of the side] flush out with hot water and set mouth down to dry.

Take a look at one of the new ultrasonic cleaners. They are incredible. The brass comes out looking better than what it looks like new in the bag. The ultrasonic cleaner cleans the primer pocket, the inside of the case, heck it even cleans the flash hole. Tom.
