Default great day for a little shooting my flinters

I got the 54 1 in 66 t/c renegade tacking driving them round balls out to 100 yard from the bench.I did boost the powder charge to 100 grains of goes 3 F 230 hornady R/B .017 blue and white patch and 3 shots at the 100 3" groupe with Fiber optic sights
Next I wanted to see how my 50 cal. flinter shoot the buffalo 325 grain HPBT bullet/sabot in the older 50 cal barrel made buy douglas
Man outstanding 90 grains of 3F 3 shots again maybe 2" goupe at the 100 yd target also but this barrel wears a rear peep

Peep sight or not, any time with open sights I can hold a three inch group with roundball... I am one happy camper. Under that is a reason to celebrate. Nice shooting. Them Douglas barrels are sure good shooters. Good shooting there.

I had a friend that had a Douglas barrel on a .58 caliber CVA Mountain Rifles. That thing was amazing. When I learned he sold that rifle I was a little upset because I would have bought it off him, and offered to do so many times.

Another good barrel you seldom see anymore are the Sharon barrels. They were really good barrels. We used to worship them at the black powder shoots. Then everyone started shooting the Green Mountain barrels.

I bet that put a smile on your face seeing them groups.

I had my hads on a 50 cal. Sharon barrel from t/c early guns 4 digits serial number too bad it was a percussion because if it was a flint it would of been in my gun safe
I was told by a old timer at t/c that the early Sharon barrel were stamped with a heart or spade in the bottom of the barrels behind the wedge key

Those are WOOOH-HOOOO groups for sure. Big grin time. I can get those groups with my GP flinter at 75 yards, but not at 100 (yet).

Any one want to try the fps on the 31 " barrrel with the 230Gr. 54 cal . hornady r/b with 100 grains of Goex 3F POWDER
I can say at the 50 yard mark target shooting about 1" high over center need no adjustment for the 100 yard target .The round ball is shooting pretty flat out to the 100 yd mark.
