Knight 209 breech plug (no disc)
Anyone try out the knight 209 breech plugs where the discs and plastic holders are not needed?
I shoot an elite and thought of trying it. |
My experience is that for a shot or 2 it's ok, much more than that the spent primer sticks and becomes really a hassle to get it out.

The Kight NFPJ system is shooting a bare primer. At first it is kinda difficult learning to get the bare prime in the samll area but once you develope a technique you can get it done fairly well. If you are not in a hurry there is a new conversion coming on the market that will be a lot cleaner than the current Knight setup. Lehigh built one version just recently and it is cleaner than the either the Knight FPJ or the NFPJ, but it wasn't what most of us were after so Dave redesinged and will bring out a second generation plug and primer adapter later this month. This plugs biggest advantage is the Lehigh vent liner installed in the nose of the plug. It gives excellent ignition of all powders including BH. This is one of the test I ran with the Lehigh... http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/blac...-rock-pit.html These are some pictures of the latest conversion I was trying. ![]() rjhans53 is also correct there can be a tendency for primer to get stuck, but I am hoping an answer for that will also be worked out. |
i've bought two of the non full plastic jacket conversions from knight.one for a .50 extreme and .45 super-disc and have been very happy with both, they are very close to being blowback free.the downside is the primers are harder to load if you have big hands or gloves on.they also work well with blackhorn 209 .....karl

Big Country I have tried them and they worked great in a couple of my Knight rifles. However I went back to the musket cap ignition in my MK-85. And For my Knight LRH I stayed with the disc's. I really like the disc system. Mainly because I have big fingers and the disc is very easy for me to work with. I just put a few in whatever pocket I have available and I can find them extremely easy. I can even put them in when it is dark outside. I just know the "feel" of the disc.
I do not know what is going to happen to Knight rifles so I just bought 1,000 of the red disc's. I am sure they will last a lifetime. I reuse them on the range. So I am not worried about ever running out. Tom. |
