Range time with new Triumph BC
#1
I was very excited to find my T/C Triumph Bone Collector leaning against my door when I got home yesterday. I decided to mount a Leupold 4-12 scope on this muzzleloader secured with Leupold QR Base and Rings. It feels and looks good. Light!
Today, I bore sighted the ML then grabbed my stuff and headed to the range. After a couple shots at 25 yards to get the shots fairly close, I moved my target out to 50 yards to start my testing.
For years I heard how tight some TC barrels can be, so as a precaution, I purchased some 300 grain Shockwaves with the yellow super hyper glide sabots.
To make things simple, I decided to shoot 78 grains of Blackhorn 209 (weighed) and Federal 209A primers. I would only switch around the bullet and sabot combo's.
After two shots at 25 yards, I moved my target out to 50 yards and loaded up the 300 shockwaves and the yellow sabots. The shockwave bullet with the yellow sabot measured 0.501" in diameter. These loaded up very easy with little effort. Personally I like a tight fit when shooting Blackhorn. The group was just under 1.75" c-t-c

My next load was the Barnes 250 MZ with the orange EZ sabot which measured .502" in diameter. These loaded up fairly tight. My first and third shot were in the same hole. The group measured 0.75 c-t-c.

Because I was able to seat the 0.502" diameter bullet, I decided to go for it and load up one of my favorite loads. The Barnes 300 MZ with the HPH-12 sabot. This bullet/sabot combo measured 0.5035" in diameter. I was able to seat the bullet with a lot of downward pressure on the T-rod. The group measured 5/8" c-t-c.

Because this group tightened up a bit I decided to try the Barnes 250 grain with the HPH-12 sabot...it also measured 0.5035" in diameter.
It was almost a carbon copy of the Barnes 250 with the orange EZ sabot. The group measured 1" c-t-c.

All is all I'm very happy with my purchase. This muzzleloader feels about as good as any firearm I own, and points quickly.
I'll bring my chrony next time to compare the velocities against my Knight ML's.
