I am trying to buy a 1X scope from a friend, I know what the scope is worth but the only way he will sell it to me is a package deal with the gun. I have no interest in the gun but want the scope pretty bad. The gun is a CVA Hunter Bolt Magnum 50 cal with a camo stock and blued barrell. What is it worth and do you guys feel there would be much interest in it in the Classifieds. I would want to price it for a quick sale, just want the scope and to recoup what the gun would be worth. Thanks Joe

Why would you want to buy the package for just a scope? I can understand why your friend wants to sell the whole works, but if you don't need the rifle, and depending on what he is asking for the whole works, it does not sound like a good deal. The CVA Hunter Bolt I have no experience with. Go to an auction site and see what they are selling for. It might surprise you.
If you want a good 1X32mm scope, go to Traditions Firearms. I think they sell one for $53.00 or something close to that. I have one of the Traditions and would sure buy another one. Good scope for the money.

I have never owned a 1X scope so maybe I am wrong here, but I have looked down a few. I honestly think a person can do as well with a good peep. But then again a good peep sight aint cheap either.

The trouble I found with a peep is low light shooting, and you still have to be very careful of how you line up the front sight and the center of the peep. In low light the front sight disappears. With my 1X scopes, once the + is on.. I put that where I want it and pull the trigger. Also they do not tend to cover the entire target at longer distances.
