I am down to two muzzleloaders in my search for a new gun. I looked at a Winchester X-150 today and liked the look and feel of the gun, and it seems like a lot of gun for the money. I have heard good things about their accuracy, but would like to hear any feedback. Also, I am wondering how reliable the ignition would be in rain and snow, being that the breech is open. Any feedback on this weapon would be appreciated.

Welcome to the board Leesburgturkey,I' ve never looked at the Winchester. I either read or heard somewhere that the Winchesters were made by Traditions.I would check the gun out more before buying one. There are so many proven muzzleloaders out I would go after one of them., T/C ,Knight, Ruger,CVA to name a few.If they are indeed made by Traditions they are probably a good gun.

Winchester is just a name these days. Winchester Muzzleloading is owned by BPI, parent company also of CVA and now PowerBelt bullets. http://www.bpiguns.com/

I have seen a couple on our range and they seem to go bang and hold up well with other brand names in accuracy. I think it was PB bullets(the company that make dead centre, etc.) that tested the win. 150 on a bou hunt in Quebec and stated they performed flawlessly.
As far as open breech, does it not have a weather shroud? I have a Rem 700MLS and it came with a weather shroud, so you might want to check if their is one available and it is legal. If not a wool sock will help keep moisture off the nipple and breech area. just remember to remove it before you pull pin
! Also in wet weather tape the end of the barrel with electrical tape to prevent moisture from entering.
