Default Rookie that needs advice.

I am new to this forum and new to Muzzel Loading.

I am looking for advice on buying a good entry level 50 cal.+ Muzzel Loader to be used here in Michigan and beyond. My budget is limited but I do insist on good quality. I know the choices are Traditional or Inline and having respect for both sides of the sport, If I could own both I would. For now I welcome information from both camps so I can make an informed purchase. Used guns are in the mix and I would also like information on what to look for and look out for when buying used.

Thank You for your knowlege, time, and input

You need to check the rules regulating muzzleloaders in MI, I have not hunted there in about 20 years and they have been change at least some in that time.
After checking the rules you might check a few Walmart stores there are some very good buys until they sell out. I know that there are some Omega and Triumph for sale and I know they are excellent choices [I own both] I have heard that there are some good buys on the Accura which also has an excellent reputation [ have not owned one myself] ; be sure that what you buy is legal before you buy some states have far out rules and if you want to hunt with it you need to know what is legal.

Thanks MountianDevil
Is CVA Accura a good quality ML? I have heard about some quality issues regarding the Wolf.

Accura is one of the best muzzleloaders they've made to date. Sweet triggers too, they are around 2lbs with no grit or creep ( at least mine anyway LOL)

After you have considered the points that Lee brought up... I guess my first question to you would be how much do you plan on using this gun... If it will be used for a short season or as a way to extend your hunting then there are a lot of ways to go to get a good economical gun.

If you are going to get a gun that you plan on using a lot - then I would certainly suggest that you look at the higher quality guns offered.

One of the better ML's that you might be able to pick up along the way is a Knight DISC, either the Extreme or the Elite. It is one of the stronger guns out there. Another good used gun would be a TC Omega.

Here is some information on some new guns from Cabelas... these are really decent buys.

This is also a very good gun + there is a rebate from directly from TC.. + also keep in mind TC has a lifetime warranty on the gun

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/horizontal-pod.jsp?id=0065970&navCount=1&parentId=cat370001&m asterpathid=&navAction=push&cmCat=MainCatcat21404-cat21420-cat370001&parentType=index&indexId=cat370001&rid=

One other most moder TC ML - again with a TC rebate...

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/standard-pod-wrapped.jsp?id=0071216&navCount=3&parentId=cat3700 01&masterpathid=&navAction=push&cmCat=MainCatcat21 404-cat21420-cat370001&parentType=index&indexId=cat370001&rid=

And these are the Accura's, but be advised CVA is coming out with a new model that will have some form of a speed breech... These use the same BP as type BP as the Omega and the new one will something like what comes in the Triumph...

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/standard-pod-wrapped.jsp?id=0071216&navCount=3&parentId=cat3700 01&masterpathid=&navAction=push&cmCat=MainCatcat21 404-cat21420-cat370001&parentType=index&indexId=cat370001&rid=

Really hope some of this helps...
