I have been wanting to give the Elite a test drive so I finally gave in and used a tag for a little 3X3 mulie. He's big bodied but not much of a rack. I watched him for 3 hours then decided to go ahead and take him. I figure the rack will make a good gun holder. Plus I needed the testicles for making some new lure.
I went out early to an area where I had seen a 6X7 mulie. He never showed. The does came in and bedded down. I walked about 5 miles still hunting and spotted a real nice 12 point Whitetail. I tried to put the sneak on him while he was bedded but got busted by a doe. It's more difficult in the sandhiulls. It's open prairie.
I headed on across and kept glassing. I finally spotted some mulies bedded. I snuck around and made it to within 125 yards . I crawled on my belly over the hill and lay there looking. I saw 3 little bucks and 4 does but the big guy wasn't around. One of the bucks was the 3X3 . I watched for 3 hours laying on the ground and decided it was time to go. I debated off and on during the 3 hours about letting him go. Finally I decided I wanted some meat, the doe from last month is long eaten and I still have archery tags and muzzy tags as far as looking for a bigger one. So I moved to get in position. They all stood staring at me. I dropped the hammer and he was gone over the edge of the bowl where they were bedding. I got up and walked over and saw him at the bottom. He didn't go 15 yards. He just rolled down the hill.
50 cal.Knight Elite 130 gr 777, 250 gr shockwave black sabot, 777 primer , Ultimate Slam scope. 123 yards. Bullet entered right behind the front leg and exited behind the other leg. The exit hole is big enough to put your index finger in. I'll post some pics of the entry and exit when I skin him. here's a pic of the guy.

It's my favorite way of hunting. I blow it quite often but have my share of success. It sure seems sweet when you can get close on their terms and they are taken by surprise. Makes hunting that much more fun. I still-hunt 95 % of the time and ambush them the other 5% of the time. The Elite is a nice shooter. I think i like it almost as much as my Triumph.
