That would definitely bring the POI down but for that bullet to work correctly especially at the ranges you are talking - you are going to need the velocity to get the energy...

Going down to 100 grains of pellets would be like shooting 85 grains of BP - good for a 100 yards in a sidelock but I am not thinking I would shoot much over a 100 with that load...

The 777 pellets are calibrated to pyrodex/BP, not 777 powder. Therefore 100gr 777 pellets is equivalent to 100gr pyrodex -- not 85gr. However 100gr 777 pellets is only equivalent to 85gr 777 loose. I think you math was reversed??

woul not cleaning after the 5th shot cause the 6th to be so Low????? First time i haven't cleaned in between shots...and the last!! There was so much crud!!!!--Dr

DrAsus 08-28-2009 02:29 PM

7th shot----CHANGED TO 150gr!!!!

1 1/2 " Right.................6" Low!!!!!!

what to do what to do??--Dr

DrAsus 08-28-2009 03:13 PM

It seems even though I have 1/4 " clicks that my adjustments are doubling.....

so I adjusted 3" down (since it was 6 1/4" HIGH)

to get

Shot 9
150gr........6" Left.......1/2" high (if that)

Going home...bugs are eating me alive and I'm tired....possibly affecting the shots. Until next time----DrAsus

You are correct.... thanks for the catch...

lemoyne 08-28-2009 05:17 PM

Dr Asus you are not shooting 100yd which is what the clicks are supposed to be calibrated for; at 150 yd figure approx 1/2 inch I know that sounds to strong but my experience with that scope says its close, they are a bit on the strong side any way. I also believe in checking for group after I move the sight setting some times it takes a few shots before it settles down. Lee

Yes, I found that even though my Nikon has 1/4" clicks it was printing like 1/2" clicks...so I cut the adjustment needed in half.

Bugs, weather, and my fatigue caused me to call in a day. I'm sure I flinched or pulled some shots. I don't have an idea shooting rest. The range I went to has 100-500yards in 100 yard increments. I had to go to the 200 yard range and back off 50 yards and confirmed it with a range finder. I then parked the car horizontal at that spot and reconfirmed with rangefinder. I had a blanket and towel on top of the car with a couple of shooting bags. I found the rear bag to be a pain with my right hand pulling the trigger sometime; thus resulting in some flinches. I don't think I like the trigger on the Triumph but oh well. My scope is definitely responding to my imputs and optics are very clear. Its actually the best scope I have right now.

With the last shot (shot 9) it was almost horizontally center..maybe 1/2" high but was 6" left. I don't know if I flinched or what...my right hand and forearm are strained from all the cleaning and freakin breach plug being a pain in the A$$ today. Hopefully I'll get it sighted in before Hunting season. I'd like to take it a few times during regular gun season too! I just have to play around with the 130gr and 150 gr loads. I COULD even do 30x3+50 for a 140gr 777 load and see how she likes that.

Ok guys time for the advice. What load should i stay with, 130 or 150? Or try the 140gr? Thanks for all the help and I hope this helps someone else as well--DrAsus
