Default The mop

Just wondering how many of you use the barrel "mop" that comes with cleaning kits. And for those of your that do, how do you clean it? Are they more effective than patches?

Thanks.

I use the barrel mop as the final step when I oil the bore. That way the bore is clean, the mop is only oiled, and I can use it over and over again.

I use a barrel mop and cover the end of it with a patch soaked in Hoppes #9 to clean the action on my Knights.

I use the bore for exactly that... I mop the barrel with hot soapy water - then rinse it with boiling water using the mop to flush out loose material... then patches to complete the whole process.

If you are shooting BH skip it and go to Hoppes #9 with patches to clean the bore as you might do a centerfire gun.
