I used to bowhunt 50 acres which were behind an old old black church. This church had a slave cemetary behind it and a newer set of gravesites next the slave site. The minister there would let me sleep in my truck and walk across the cemetary and I thought I had a pretty good walkway set up in the dark walking past headstones as my trail markers. Hurricane Hugo came thru in '89 and thoroughly soaked and tore up my hunting area. Hugo hit on Friday and I went hunting 2 Saturdays later hoping it had dried out. Im crossing the graveyard in the dark taking my tried and true trail. Suddenly my feet go out from under me and im falling straight down 4 feet. The old slave graves were very shallow and i was chest deep in a grave with perfectly looking normal land around my chest. it looked like i had been planted.my feet were not touching anything. they were in an old coffin i think. after about 20 seconds i scrambled out. the headstone only said "miss annie". i told the minister what had happened and it was repaired but i always would appoligize to miss annie as i walked past there in dark from that point on.

all these stories are pretty neat. i thought about printing them off and taking them to my hunting cabin and reading them when i was up there by myself. its strange to think but in about 50 years the way this country is going that these may be the hunting stories past down so others can remember the past and the freedom we had.

Poach a fish? Never cooked one that way before, thanks for the idea!
Season the fish with salt and pepper - rubbed in. In a large saute pan, combine the fish stock, wine, onions, thyme, bay leaves and garlic cloves. Season the liquid with salt and pepper. Bring the liquid up to a simmer. Add the whole fish and poach for about 8 to 12 minutes (very lowsimmer). After the first 8 minutes, stick a paring knife into the back of the fish and try to gently pull back the flesh from the bone. If the flesh sticks to the bone, poach for a couple of minutes more. Keep testing until the fish is done. Serves two.

I can remember when I was a kid and would be at the deer camp. All the men would be sitting around playing cards, having a beer or two, and telling hunting stories. Some of the stories were hilarious. Others very serious. But one thing I noticed was all the story telling, kidding and teasing was done in good fun and no one got upset about it. I think half the fun of deer hunting was sitting around and listening to the people.

Alright, so on the last day of goose season last year my buddy and I decided to hunt a cornfield I had permission to hunt as long as these other guys were not hunting.
It was a real foggy morning. We were having trouble even telling where we were at in the field. After the fog started to lift we see some decoys and some guys hunting the same field as us not too far away. We could not figure out where they came from. After a while one of the hunters walked over to us and asked what we were doing. Turns out, they were there first and heard us drive in and everything but could not see us. They were cool with it and we were fine with it so we both kept hunting for a few hours.
It was ironic that we hunted that field a lot last year and never once saw them hunting it until closing day on a foggy morning where we would have never seen them.

Semi - Only you would think of something like 'dropping in on Miss Annie".
Dave - Thought your poop story was funny.
I wish we could all get together and sit around a campfire and just bs. That would really be cool.
