This is a picture(s) of the Knight Elite recoil lug.





I am trying to figure out the advantages of this lug vs the lug on the Extreme, since i do not have an Elite i asked Tom to take some photos of the lug. There is no difference in the stock for the Elite/Extreme.

After reading Wayles post on the 'second action skrew' - i am wondering more about the 'Elite Lug" I am actually thinking i can recreate the 'forked' portion of the lug, or close to it, to apply to the Extreme.

What -why are the advantages of the 'Forked' recoil lug. What is the general toughts?????

I have both. There is a slight difference in the stock in that it is routed out to accept the forked lug. Other than that I am not sure of its advantages except that maybe it floats the barrel a little better.
I had thought about trying to put it on the extreme but it seems to shoot fine the way it is.

OK - I thought the stocks were the same, but I checked Knight, course they do not list any elite stocks - but they say the Extreme stock is for the 'Extreme'

I think someone recently posted that they installed an Elite barrel in a LRH stock without any
modification to the stock.

It would be nice to see pictures of the action bed of the Elite, Extreme and LRH stocks to compare.

You are right...

flounder if you could get a close-up picture of the recoil lug area of your Elite stock and post it - that would be great. I'll do the same with my extreme, but I am in Kennewick until Friday so i can not do my part till then...

OR Grouse - if you visit this thread would you snap a picture of your Elite - i know Lehigh dave has your Extreme so i will get the Extreme Friday - might have to change the setting your camera to take a close up.

I can take a picture of my 45 elite tonight. Dave has my 50cal Elite.

Cool! also check to see if as you tighten the action screw if the barrel lifts free of the stock... which should also cause the rear tang on the back of the action to seat tighter against the stock...

Oh man! I think i have just the trick to make that happen to a Extreme - I need a small 'scroll saw' but i will do it by hand... I know it will work and it is cheap....

I haven't started posting photos yet. I should get my act together and get set up to do it but it won't be for a while.
I am pretty sure that the extreme stock can be modified to work on an elite. I know I read that knight wouldmodify the extremethumbhole stocks so they would workon an elite (for a price). It would involve removing some stock for the forked lug to fit into it and doing it precisely enough so the flat bottom of the recoil lug seatsfirmly in the stock.
