Default Do you have a loose Bore Muzzleloader?

I tried out a new R&D bullet for Lehigh tonight. It's a .459 277grn bullet. Not the usual .458 bullet size we are custom to. Along with the the orange .458 MMP sabot this makes your loose bore 50cal ML a thing of the past. I was extremely happy with this combination in my Savage and Knight Muzzleloader.

Below is a 200 yard target i shot tonight with my Knight Vision.

If you have one of these loose bore Muzzleloaders you might want to try one of these bullets out. I believe you will be extremely happy.

Or someone could just try some different sabots with the bullet they're already shooting. Worked for me...

Switching to another sabot might work and often does, but there are some bores that moving to a thicker sabot might be too thick as in the case of my Triumph, but the .459 and Orange sabot really give a snug fit.

In my mind, I guess I am thinking more of the BH-209 shooters. It seems a tighter fit is critical to get the most effeciency from BH and if you are shooting smokeless I guess it is a must.

As an R&D bullet is certainly might not be for everyone but some might might be able to take advantage of it.

Sabotloader, I'm not aware of that many sabots that are .458 that MMP doesnt already make. A .452 sabot is way to tight with this bullet. These bullets wont fair well in most T/C guns either. Knight's and savages are perfect. I bet the White's would be another choice if i remember right.

I'm also kicking the thought around on a .451 bullet as well. They would be great in custom guns and T/C'S.

I've used the Crush Rib w/.458s in some loose bores. The orange MMP is a good sabot though.

EDIT: The black (452) Crush Rib

I think these bullets would would be perfect in my White S91. She is kinda overbored even for a White Rifle.

They are for sale now. The price will be $45.00 Delivered for 50 bullets. These are the .459 275grn bullets. They should be on the web-site very soon. I don't recommend using them in T/C guns unless you got a loose bore.

Just checked, they are on the web-site now.
