Default Shortages carrying over to the ML world???

It was bad enough that I could not find BH209 once I decided I wanted to try it (still don't have it). Now I've been to 3 stores today on the way back from turkey hunting, no loose 777!!! No pyrodex!!! The only thing on any of the shelves was the stuff noone wants to shoot (Shockey's and APP).

I've decided to become one of those people causing the problems. I bought their last 2 lbs of Reloader22 (the first two stores had none) and half of their remaining WSP primers. I'm about cleaned out of shooting supplies right as this shortage and hoarding starts, guess I need to hoard a little myself when I can find it. I had been avoiding that on priniciple.

So now even if I had time, I can't shoot my ML unless I want to use very, very old pyrodex or CleanShot that's in the back of my cabinet.

If your short on supplies no problem. It's worth paying the hazmat and ordering on the internet. I just got a case of BH209 from Powder valley for $295.00 to my door. That's $29.50 a bottle to my door. I could of got primers and all kinds of stuff if i needed it for no extra fees.

That's fine, you can still stock up on whatever you need to offset the cost. Rifle bullets, primers, shotgun shells etc.

I do understand what you are saying, BH209 is exspensive either way you look at it. Hopefully one of you local shops will get it for you.

Ive got enough shooting components to get thru this year. I feel lucky cause theres nothig on the shelfs. I cant afford to do big orders, so I pick up stuff little by little. My shooting will be limited this year because of shortages. Ive got a new rem model 7 7mm-08. That Im bot gonna have the components to find the best load for. Once i get groups under2 inches at 100 yards , its getting put away till gun season.[&o].Ive got enough ML components to get thru for now

Remember you will need to shoot more BH with a 200 grain bullet to achieve the velocity that an equal amount if T7 would reguire. That situation reverses as the weight of the bullet increases the BH becomes more efficient.

I think if I remember right to get the same velocity with a 200 grain bullet shooting 100 grains of T7 you would have to load 115 grains BH due to the progressive burning properties of BH.

Some of Grouse's posts seemed to indicate that may not be true in all guns, however I'm more interested in BH209 for the 265gr and 325gr FTX bullets so it's a non-issue for me, I'm kinda going by what you've told me on the heavy bullets actually to try this.

Grouse, I'm not sure what you're saying on saving by stocking up....if I want to buy 1 can of BH209 I get hit with a $20 hazmat fee...I guess if I bought a ton of other powders but 1 can of BH209 and 2-3 cans of 777 is all I need right now, I'm not willing to add $5-7 per can onto the price.
