I think that's an excellent choice if you like it. You can shoot BH in it if you want or one of the subs. Very easy to clean. And it's a beautiful shooter. The only fault I can really find w/the Triumph is not being able to get down to see open sights, but you said you're scoping it so no worries there.

I'm more of a meat and potatos kinda guy so the Bone Collector doesn't intrest me, but hey, if you like it then go for it! It'sa mean lookin' gun. I doubt very seriously you'll be disapointed. Though, I thought in your original post you said you wanted a gun w/a thumbhole. If so, currently they don't make the Triumph in a thumbhole. I'm sure they will though. A lot of people seem to like them.

Wow I appreciate all the replies. I would like too respond too all but would take too long at this time a night! So anyway I went down too the gun shop and test fitted the T/C bone collector. My first thought was wow this thing feels like a feather! Then I picked up a CVA with a thumbhole grip and I just like that too much so. So Im gonna keep searching and not get in no hurry since I have all kinds of time till the whitetail season opens! Im off too cabellas tomorrow morning and gonna see what that brings!! Thanks IA

Smokeless is not legal for Muzzleloading hunting in some states. Arizona is one of those. If it were legal I would probably have a Savage too.

IMHO,Hands Down the best buy for the buck would be a Savage ML10II, use any of the subs with it including The original Substitute for Black powder. It is available with a thumb hole stock. Check Natches once again for some of the best prices.

I was just about to bring that up. If you like the Savage but don't care to shoot smokeless powder in it, don't. Just shoot BP or BP subs. It can shoot both.

Yes, about any MLer is cheaper however. They are a very costly gun to get all together. Mine wasabout 1000 for everything. Gun 550, scope 230, mounts/rings 100+ scales40+ tubes for powder 25+ powder 25. I like it don't get me wrong, and for 45/70 single shot Ruger number 1 type shooting without cartridges, it is the gun to own.

Oh, if you don't like cleaning it is the gun to own. If you want to shoot 200, 250 and 300 yards with proper bullet and scope and practice it is the gun to own. Any gun will shoot 100 yards, any inline will shoot to 150-170 yards. Any inline that will shoot 150g with proper bullet will shoot to 200 yards, only a select few will get beyond 200.

I basicly only load any of my Muzzle stuffers to the equivalent of 105 gr. of BH209.

I built my last smokeless gun and already have 2 more barrels waiting for receivers!:D:D, took delivery of 2 more 8 pounders of 4759 yesterday:D:D:D:D:D

I think the Knight Vision that the Sportsman's Guide has on sale is one of the best buys anywhere ;);)

If a Scope is your thing then don't scimp on it, but it is only a sighting device, so IMHO alot of bells and whisles are IMHO useless. Ex: lighted reticle, more than 9 power, over 40mm bell. ext.

Don't forget to mention that the Savage; although a very quality gun, and capable of shooting the subs also, but it is VERY HEAVY and cleaning with the corrosive powders is not as easy as most of the other black powder and sub only rifles.

Good point, That is why if I wasn't going to use Smokeless, I would only shot BH209 out of a Savage.

The weight is A OK IMHO if you should ever decide to push the performance envelope that the savage is capable of. The Weight will help tame some recoil. [8D][8D]
