Whats happening to this forum

When I joined here about a year ago this was the best site that I have ever found. No agruing, folks would just post there experiences and findings here for people to read and think about. Some of the remarks on here are factual, some im sure are not, but there is no way that any reader can prove otherwise.A persons on experiences may be different fromthe next person. If you dont agree with what someone else hassaid do your on testing with the bullets, loadsor rifles and see what you experiences prove to you. If you dont agree with what you read on here what good does it do to attack the person writing it. I dont enjoy reading posts with all the personal attacks to other people. I agree with what semi said in another post. STOP IT

I like it when a poster says "I did this and this is what happened". He is telling us of his experience.

I like it when a poster says "I have no experience with that, but my opinion is X because". He is being up front acknowledging that it's an opinion, not experience, and providing the basis for his opinion.

I pay little attention to posts that say "This is the best" or "that is the worst" or "this is good" or "that is no good" as though all things are absolute, and without providing any logical basis for the statement.

I still think this is the most enjoyable and informativemuzzle loading site around and I consider many of the regulars to befriends whom I've never met.

The best advice you'll ever get about smokepoles will still come from this board. There is some serious knowledge and experience here.

Boy - I leave to go on vacation for a week and you guys start talking about me behind my back....:(
Just kidding of course. I agree exactly with Semisane's post. Most of us here get along really well even though there may be some friendly ribbing along the way. The combined knowledge of the members in here is fantastic. Some of us have different opinions on various products but our opinions are expressed with respect to the other member's opinions with no slamming done.
The fun part of this forum I find is guys trying out different things and reporting on it as they see fit. Good or bad. Those of us with the knowledge (or a lot of past experience) know that there is no one bullet/powder/load combo or cleaning solvent that is the best for every muzzleloader. Those that think there is is highly mistaken. Lets all have fun and continue to play with our muzzleloaders and report what we find. Others, read and post replies without being disrespectful.

RE: Whats happening to this forum

Public forums allow people to express their opinions, whether it be negative or positive, as long as it's within the forum rules.Take your own advice and if you see something you don't want to read, don't read it.

I consider myself a forum veteran. Not on this forum but I have been a very active member of numerous other forums. I use to moderate 5 forums at one time. 3 Ford Lightning forums, a Nitrous discussion forum and an iPhone forum. I'm still a mod on 1 of the truck forums, the nitrous forum and a Global Moderator on the iPhone forum. With that being said, I have plenty of experience dealing with crafty people trying to advertise their products on peoples forums, for personal and financial gain, without paying any vendor fees to the site owners. These people are warned and then banned if they repeat the offense. If they continue to advertise their product or their site, it's considered SPAMMING and they are permanently banned. This is the only site I have been a member of where the forum staff doesn't do anything about blatant SPAMMING.

I do enjoy the content and discussions here. But if you're asking me not to call people out on their SPAMMING, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to do that.

I peronally and only speaking for myself think that is an awful bold statement you just posted...

And as far as I know you have not be appointed any type of authority on this particular board.

Unless you know something as fact I do not think you should react on your personal speculation. Specualtion has always lead people down tough roads. When you do know something for FACT - then report it to the proper people - you are not the forum cop.

I personally know two of your specualtions to be false.

If you want to address your speculations - then do it with the PM system that is one of its uses.

Sorry everyone...

Additionally, lately people have been taking more offense to statements. I've been on here since '04 and it we used to just pick on Frontier Gander AKA MountainDevil54 for shooting girly bullets with skirts :D but he knows, and we knew that it was all in good fun and no one got upset. Now if you bring up a bullet it nearly starts a war. Sabotloader and I don't agree on XTPs. It's fine. When someone asks about them, he gives his findings, I give mine and there are no hard feelings. We don't call each other idiots for expressing our opinons.

People just need to calm down a bit.

No one appointed me the "forum cop" and I never said they did. And thanks for the reminder but I already know I don't have any "special authority" on this forum. If I see something that I consider suspect, I report it. Just as everyone on this forum should report something they think isn't appropriate. But apparently the mods on this forum don't care about people spamming. That's their prerogative.

As for knowing something as "FACT"... How much more obvious does it need to be for you??? Someone joins this site and their very first post isto advertisea certain product... And then, starts posting how great said product is without any real world testing... And then, continuously posts links, ads, special deals, pictures with propaganda in them, etc, about said product. All of which is the definition of SPAMMING. And Ipost repliesaddressing the above mentioned posts... How is that speculation??? I'm not assuming anything, I'm merely commenting (aka: stating my opinion) on the posts presented to me when I log on this forum. Again, how obvious does it need to be before you can see this for what it is. SPAM! And as far as speculation goes, how speculatory is it to make claims of how great a certain bullet is when no game has been taken with it??? Maybe someone else should get the facts before posting.....

As far as two of my "speculations" being false, I'll grant your request and send you a PM because I am curious to see what you're referring to....

RE: Whats happening to this forum

I signed up on Huntingnet.com because of this forum only a short time ago. Before I started reading posts on here I was a ML virgin. I decided to get into inline muzzleloading for a change and thanks to those on this board I have been able to gather a wealth of information. When I eventually turn to a traditional rifle I know I can turn to the people on here for advice. As of now, I mostly read the posts and I am able and willing to sort out the info or arguments that are of negative nature. Hopefully someday I will be able to return the favor to a ML newcomer and the ML community in general by sharing my experiences.

From what I have experienced, this forum is not nearly as bad as many forums, no matter what the topic, in regards to trash talking, vulgarity, and lack of respect. I think most on here have a respect for each other and an understanding that everybody has different opinions. They also understand that in Muzzleloading that what worksi for one gun doesn't work for another. For example, I have read many posts where cayugad will mention that one of his guns really likes the .430 XTP in a green CR sabot. As far as I have seen, he has never said that it is the best load ever invented, just that it might be worth a try. That is just one example.

I have thouroughly enjoyed, and will continue to enjoy this forum. Yes, at times the connection speeds are slow but I am not that impatient I guess. I believe I have probably saved hundreds of dollars by taking advice on here. Somebody else has made mistakes or learned lessons that I can learn from.

This is a long post but my simple point is that even though there are some undesirable posts or replys on here occaisionally, the benfits outweigh them by a long shot.
