I assume all of you calling camo guns a "gimmick" don't turkey hunt. I will tell you with 100% confidence that hunting with a fully camo'ed shotgun for turkey is the only way to go.

I don't believe a camo gun helps while deer hunting (turkey? maybe but IMO probably not)
While gun hunting here in WV we have to wear blaze orange. If the deer isn't gonna spook looking at that he probably wont spook looking at a black or brown gun.

A shiny gun? That might get ya busted.

Movement? That will certainly get ya busted

All that being said the profile of the gun the deer will be looking at is a Big dark circle (scope) on top of a smaller dark circle (barrel)

camo guns are not worth the extra $50 to $100 dollars...

Gotta go with DannyD on this one.... while I really like a camo stock and I really do not care for a camo barrel - I really think most often movement will get long before color... big game hunting... Turkey hunting - movement way before anything else then maybe color....

In the gun cabinet. I got that cabinet when we bought a dish washer. I put it to good use.

It's totally a personal thing. I like the look....have 3 all the same stainless barrel and the camo stock(ProHunter,Triumph,Genesis).
Just the same thing with color of car or your homes paint. Different strokes for different folks thats all.

It might help some, but I don't think that it's by any means necessary. When Europeans settled North America, turkeys were plentyful. By the middle of the twentieth century they were dangerously close to being hunted to extinction. I'm pretty sure that the dudes that almost hunted them to extinction didn't have Realtree or Mossy Oak Break-Up camo guns.

Edit: Just realized that this is a resurrected thread from before the software change, so I was no longer subscribed, but had already posted a response. So in the interest of not repeating everything I said 6 months ago...
