Christmas came Early in big brown
#1
Tuesday while I was shooting PRB's - big brown stopped by the house and left a package....
Finally got the two Renegades cleaned up and some mechanical adjustments completed to the 50 - so I set them aside and went to work on the big brown delievery...
Grouse sent this out to Idaho. We were discussing the merits of the Elite when he asked "do you want to shoot a Triumph for me." So what is a guy suppose to say other than SURE!
Well it arrived Tuesday - came with a scope base so I added Warne QD's (low) and a cheap but good Tasco that I had on my A&H. I am still trying to make this scope break - hopefully the Triumph might make it happen, as the A&H failed.
Stripped it down and completly cleaned and lubed it. I sure is a simple rifle - parts wise I mean... really not much to it.
I certainly will be a pleasure to carry it around it is the lightest ML that i have at the moment... 7.14 lbs with scope, my Bowning A-Bolt with scope 7.11 lbs.
His request was to only shoot BH in the gun - I can handle that - hopefully will get to shoot it soon but with my upcoming schedule it might not be till late March... dang it...

Be sure and let us know what all you try. Right now I am trying to determine how big I should lwt the tounch hole get before I need to change BP. Mine has had over 25 can of different powder through it and the hole is visibly larger but not round so it would not be easy to come up with a size.
If they are reasonable available a cross check on the FTX would be nice . Lee

I have a box of 250 FTX's sitting on the table right here and I have some 200's coming. I'll also probably run out and talk to Bob Parker and get some of his 275 Ballistic Extreme's - plus I am sure he will suggest some other bullets of his to try...
I am worried a bit about the bore - I have not slugged it yet but if drop a .495 round ball down it - it does not drop 'bang' to the bottom and when I turned it up side down it did not roll out.

Well after my simple checks today to get the gun ready to go - I think I am going to start off shooting 10mm/200 gr. Hornady XTP's in a Harvester 'crush rib' and a 100 grains of BH. I'll use this for sight in and to get some velocities and move on from there.

Lately that has become one of my favorite combos. It's one of the few bullets I have shot that the accuracy doesn't change from 80to 120 grains.
I know you're an MMP guy but I have found Harvester products more accucate for myself. But from the sounds of it, you'd never get one of the MMP 50/40 down that barrel anyway.
Have fun!

The 275grn Parker Bullets are .451 You should like those for easier loading. Stay away from long sabots, more plastic pushed against the rifling. I think you will find what you like sooner rather then later.
