RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation

All of the discussion I've seen on this have to do with the cost/difficulty of the manufacturing process. In my mind that isnot the issue.

Consider the cost and bureaucracy it would take to do the record keeping.
- Every box of ammo would require a different coding number.
- Manufacturers would have to keep track of and report which individual boxs went to which wholesaler.
- Wholesalers would have to trackand report which box went to which retailer.
- Retailers would have to ID individual purchasers and report which individual got which box of ammunition.
- A Federal agency would have to maintain a data base of allthe records.
- The purchaser would pay for all of this (and you thought the HAZMAT fee was high).

If I were a bad guy, I would just go to a gun range and pick up a lot of empty brass to keep in my pocket to drop at the scene of any crime I committed just to confuse the issue andcreate a little "reasonable doubt".

Semi

Here i go getting late again... but I really believe when I orignally posted this legislation it also applied to reloaders.... all bullets were going to marked, not just ammunition, and all old material would need to be destroyed...

So anyway if you were to go to your favorite outlet to buy a box of 10mm 200 grain XTP's they wopuld have to have this identifcation process embedded into them...

Glenn Beck was supporting us gun owners tonight on his show and was ripping on the guy proposing HR45...hopefully he keeps up the good work! Even when programs like ammunition stamping are defeated, the issue is stll out there. Even when HR45 applications are defeated, they will try again and it is good for all to keep informed of upcoming, past, and present bills because knowledge is power and we need to keep informed and active to keep issues like these from becoming bills and then law someday!

How much reloaded ammo do I have on hand?
When did I by my last powder? What kind was it? Same with bullets, shot, primers and caps.
Are they going to take my right away over illegal search and seizure?

What a boon doggle.

Just another piece of BS that won't go anywhere. [>:]

The anti-gun crowd, IMHO, is getting to be more like PETA everyday - just another thorn in the backside trying to tell me what I can (should)or can't (shouldn't) do. [:@]

it was good to see that NRA went after TRUTH and found out its just a MONEY MAKING idea for small group and not a agenda BY THE obama administration.

so many lies are being told and our president getting blamed for things he is not involved in.[:@]

ok, he isn't involved, but who in the US would have thought that we would have a President named Hussein.
