Ammunition Accountability Legislation
Remember how Obama said he was'nt going to take away your guns? Well, it seems that his allies in the Anti-Gun world have no problem taking your Ammo.
The Bill that is being pushed in 18 States requires All Ammunition to be (Encoded) by the Manufacture a data base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much YOU buy and what calibers. NOBODY CAN SELL AMMUNITION AFTER JUNE 30th UNLESS THE AMMUNITION IS CODED. Any privately held (Uncoded) ammunition MUST BE DESTROYED by July 1st 2011. (INCLUDING HAND LOADED AMMO) They will also charge a .05cent TAX on EVERY ROUND! So a Brick of 22's will go up ENORMOUSLY! If they can Deprive you of your Ammo, they Dont Need to Take YOUR GUNS! Take NOTE, This Legislation is CURRENTLY PENDING in 18 States...Ala.AZ.CA.Conn.HA.IL.IN.KY.MY.MS.MO.NJ.NY .PA.RI.SC.TN and Washington. Let your Friends and Family know about this Bill and let's ALL help to fight it. Call Your Congressman and let them know how you feel. To find more about the Anti-Gun Group that is Sponsoring this Legislation and the specific Legislation for each State go to ...... htpp://ammunitionaccountability.org/legislation.htm THOSE OF YOU WHO VOTED FOR THE MESSIAH (AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT YOURSELVES! This wont stop here folks, if it happens in these 18 States it WILL EVENTUALLY HAPPEN IN ALL OF THEM. IT HAS ALREADY STARTED!!!!!!!!!!! ONE SMALL STEP FOR OBAMA, ONE GIANT LEAP FOR THE ANTI'S. BP |
RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
My first inclination was not to respond to this post. Theproposed legislation failed inall 18states where it was introduced. It never got out of committee in any of those 18 states. The driving force behind this is one company with some new technology to peddle. They get some anti-gun political hack to introduce a billthey hope will bring them business.
http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/print_are_states_going_to_require_serial_numbers.h tml Such a proposal is being pushed by a company that holds a patent on bullet-coding technology. But none of the 31 bills introduced last year ever made it out of committee.Despite the urgent tone of this widely forwarded message, which we have been asked about dozens of times, the "Ammunition Accountability Act" so far has shown few signs of life. The National Research Council last year, in a report requested by the Department of Justice, called the technology "promising" but stopped short of recommending any requirement, and instead called for more research and competition. The idea is being pushed mainly by a single company that holds a patent on bullet-coding technology, so far without much success. Last year lawmakers in 18 states proposed legislation that would require handgun ammunition to be coded, but not one of those bills came to a vote or even made it out of committee. In 2005 the California state Senate approved a so-called "Ammunition Accountability" measure by a vote of 21 to 18, but the proposal then died in the Assembly without coming to a vote there. |

RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
The NRA website had an interesting radio interview on this topic...and the NRA guy ripped this company rep apart....
|
RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
Does anyone know what company it is that has that patent? I'd sure like to know who to boycott.
|
RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
The company is Ammunition Coding systems. The url for the video interview is: http://www.nraila.org/Issues/FactSheets/Read.aspx?id=227&issue=100
go to the bottum of the page to watch it...like a half hour long. |
RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
Thanks prohunter. I did a little searching with that info. Looks like a small stand-alone company, not a subsidiary of some big outfit that the gun owning community could put pressure on. Listening to that guy from ACSon the NRA video is scary. He wants to be rich and doesn't really care about much else. Check out this thread. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=39487

RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
All of the discussion I've seen on this have to do with the cost/difficulty of the manufacturing process. In my mind that isnot the issue.
Consider the cost and bureaucracy it would take to do the record keeping. - Every box of ammo would require a different coding number. - Manufacturers would have to keep track of and report which individual boxs went to which wholesaler. - Wholesalers would have to trackand report which box went to which retailer. - Retailers would have to ID individual purchasers and report which individual got which box of ammunition. - A Federal agency would have to maintain a data base of allthe records. - The purchaser would pay for all of this (and you thought the HAZMAT fee was high). If I were a bad guy, I would just go to a gun range and pick up a lot of empty brass to keep in my pocket to drop at the scene of any crime I committed just to confuse the issue andcreate a little "reasonable doubt". |

Here i go getting late again... but I really believe when I orignally posted this legislation it also applied to reloaders.... all bullets were going to marked, not just ammunition, and all old material would need to be destroyed... So anyway if you were to go to your favorite outlet to buy a box of 10mm 200 grain XTP's they wopuld have to have this identifcation process embedded into them... |
RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
Glenn Beck was supporting us gun owners tonight on his show and was ripping on the guy proposing HR45...hopefully he keeps up the good work! Even when programs like ammunition stamping are defeated, the issue is stll out there. Even when HR45 applications are defeated, they will try again and it is good for all to keep informed of upcoming, past, and present bills because knowledge is power and we need to keep informed and active to keep issues like these from becoming bills and then law someday!

RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
How much reloaded ammo do I have on hand?
When did I by my last powder? What kind was it? Same with bullets, shot, primers and caps. Are they going to take my right away over illegal search and seizure? What a boon doggle. :) Al |
RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
ITS NOT obama THAT IS PUSHING THIS, ITS A GROUP OF 3 THAT WANTS TO MAKE MONEY.
yet, some are blaming OBAMA . |

RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
Just another piece of BS that won't go anywhere. [>:]
The anti-gun crowd, IMHO, is getting to be more like PETA everyday - just another thorn in the backside trying to tell me what I can (should)or can't (shouldn't) do. [:@] |
RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
it was good to see that NRA went after TRUTH and found out its just a MONEY MAKING idea for small group and not a agenda BY THE obama administration.
so many lies are being told and our president getting blamed for things he is not involved in.[:@] |
RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
ok, he isn't involved, but who in the US would have thought that we would have a President named Hussein.

RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
I still cant believe it, I wonder what George Washington or Thomas Jefferson would have to say about it. BP

RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
deleted because it did not have any sense:)

RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
I think Thomas Jefferson and George Washington were much more open minded than you.
Art |
RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
Well, I am not quite open minded; however,I have spent 33 months and 11 days in the wonderful country of Iraq, so, I am a little narrow minded. Although, I will say I do respectthe previous President Bush more than the Present one.

RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
Listen I wasn't directing the comment toward you Slowburn. A lot of us on here have done a hitch. I appreciate your service and I think I understand how you feel. I still think the Commander in Chief deserves our respect whether we voted for him or not.
Cayugad is right about staying away from politics on here. I just felt both sides needed to be heard. I will forever keep my posts to the proper topics from now on. Art |
RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
ORIGINAL: sproulman ORIGINAL: Breechplug I still cant believe it, I wonder what George Washington or Thomas Jefferson would have to say about it. BP a part of masons history goes back to arabic world,EGYPT.;) same symbols you see that they worshiped are on building and in rituals of the masons today. I tried to stay out of this one, but felt that something had to be said. Obviously some need to think a little and perhaps grow up..... Sproulman, before you post, make sure that your statements are factual. First, Thomas Jefferson was NOT a Freemason. Secondly, Freemason ritual actually goes back to the days ofKing Solomon, a Jew and the Son of David, who built the first temple in Jerusalem. Not the Egyptians. Furthermore, I don't think that eitherWashington or Jeffersonwould have been immature or ignorant enough to discount one's ability or potential merely because of their name. I think that both of these great menwould have evaluated any personmerely by their character. I did not vote for Mr. Obamasimply becauseI do not agree with his policies or philosophies -- period -- not because of the color of his skin, his gender, his religous background, or his name. I had the honor of servingwith many brave men in the US Navy that were Muslim, and INEVER gave a rip about what their names were.We weresimply shipmates, doing our jobs, and serving the Country that weall loved. I am not defending thefundementalist Muslims that have done harm to thousands of citizens of our Country, or any of Mr. Obama's policies. I support the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan, our military leaders, and the men and womenfighting to bring lasting peace to the Middle East. But to think a founding father would despise a President becasue of his name is quite ......well.... childish..... |
RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
i deleted my info as it did not make sense.
nothing to do with topic anyhow. sorry, i meant BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, NOT TOM J, the all seeing eye:) |
RE: Ammunition Accountability Legislation
well I still respect the commander and chief, the position not the person. That is just the same as the officiers that are appointed over me. I in no way stated that I didnt respect the commander and chief. I sure wouldnt descriminate over religion or race. I could care less about his name , but I think it is ironic that the current president's middle name is Hussein, 6 years ago we entered into war to take down a dictator named Hussein. Although, I agree it is not right to discuss politics or religion on this forum. Politics and religion only cause ill feelings. Look at the middle east.
