Default Rinigs and bases for new scope.

Well I just ordered a Simmons Pro Diamond 4x32mm shotgun scope for the new rifle I got last week. It is going on a Remington Genesis SS with the laminated thumbhole stock. I am looking for suggestions for the rings and base for this scope. I know NOTHING about scopes, so make suggestions simple.[8D] On another note, all my shots wil be anywhere from 30 to 100 yards, probably nothing longer than that. Did I make a good choice on a scope? Will it do what I need? Got it from Natchez for $39.

Generally shotgun scopes have longer eye relief than rifle scopes.

I used T/C Gorilla Grip mounts on my Genesis with a Leupold Rifleman 2-7x33, and I was just able to mount the scope forward enough to fit me. Don't know if those mounts would work with that scope.

Others have used different bases and mounts, and I'm sure someone can point you right.

I had one of those scopes on my 20ga. Ultra Slug Hunter for several years. Never failed me. I replaced it with a Leupold 2x7 a couple years ago. You didn't get hurt if it holds up like mine did. I still have it.

Get you some QD rings. (quick disconnect) such as Warne,,Thompson,,,etc. They will make clean-up alot easier. They're not cheap,,but well worth the money. [8D]

For the Genesis, order the high mount rings from Traditions Arms. A1789 is their code. That will be a perfect scope. Or if you want to pull the scope for some reason, order the bases and a set of their high mount quick release. So far, I am having good luck with their rings.

Thanks guys, I have one more question. The barrel on my Genises is SS, and the scope is black. Would it look better to have black rings and base, or the SS?

I got their bases and their see thru rings. I'd either order what he said if you want high rings or the see thru rings like mine. Just depends on personal preference.

I really like how that gun looks. How much did that version run you? The reason I got the one I did was it was soo cheap. Just wondering how much of a difference there was between mine and yours.

I think with the rebate it was $162.00 then I had a $20.00 gift card too. So to go to the stainless was about $40.00 more. To me it was worth it.

No offense Dave - your rifle looks nice. But on the stainless I think the stainless bases and rings look cool with a black scope. Of course a stainless scope would even be better.
