CVA Optima Nickel/Realtree
Anyone have one? I am thinking about buying one from Cabelas. But the Cabelas website claims that the .50 cal. Niclel / Realtree, with the thumb hole is back ordered. They are saying 1 week, but you know how that goes.[8D]Anyways, with my birthday money, and my cabels gift cards, and then the CVA rebate, I think I will have enough cash to get one.
CVA Optima thumb hole, Nickel / realtree
Sale price $269
Rebate $25
Giftcards $75
Birthday $$ $45
Bonus money from work $100
I would need to chip in about $50 That could be my Birthday gift to myself.[8D]
Questions.....If you have one, do you like it?
What is your load?
Is the thumb hole better then the regular stock? I know this is a personal prefference question, but what are the pros and cons of the thumb hole.
What is your experiance with Cabelas and their back ordered items?

BD several of us on this forum ordered the Remington Genesis from Cabelas with the stainless steel barrel and laminate thumbhole stock. The rifle was on sale for $199.99 with a $35.00 rebate. You have more than enough for this rifle and it is in stock!

i had one for a few months. Loved it! Easiest rifle to clean. I'd jump all over it.

i got one, its easy to load, easy to clean, and great to shoot. i put a nikon pro staff BDC 3-9x40 scope on it.
i give it a 5/5,though it is alot heavyer than my staghorn.
good luck picking a ML im sure you will enjoy what ever you pick

Ok, all this talk about the Genesis is making me giove this gun a good look.[8D] The reason I was looking at the Optima, is because I have the CVA Wolf already, and I was looking at upgrading. How does the Genesis compare to the Optima, and the Wolf. For those of you that have the Genesis, what are you shooting out of it?

There really hasbeem a big rush on the Genesis and so far I have not heard any real complaints... Cayugad has been shooting and experimenting with his and so far he remains positive and he calls it as he sees it.
The one thing you might check out is that with any CVA product you are limited in the amount of loose BP/Sub that you might shoot to 100 grains loose + you are limited in the weightof sabot bullet and the weight of a conical that you can use.
With the Remington, or actually any other modern inline ML, these lower limits do not exist. Especially when it come to loose powder.
