Seeing a few deer sure makes it nice. Last week end I sat in my box stand on the ridge over my 1/3 acre food plot for three hours Friday evening and five hours Saturday morning and did not see an animal of any sort (except a few crows). Sat in the same stand Saturday evening and had nine does and two bucks out on that same plot gobbling up clover. Now why is that, and where the heck were all of those deer during my earlier hunts??

You know something a person season can turn around on a dime. It just takes the right buck coming by. A few years ago I had kinda of a piss poor season going on and then one morning a 20 inch 9pt with 5 inches bases and 9 and 10 inch g2 &g3 decided to come trotting by on a christmas hunt. That turned the seasonaround for me in a heartbeat. A person neverknows what might happen if yougo hunting.

Hunting season lasts for weeks, shooting season is sometimes 10 seconds.

dave, the worst part, I have seen them most of time has been passing right in front of me at night when I am driving home or when I am driving home with shooting time left and end up having no time to get an gun ready to go out.

kinda sucks live close to where you hunt.

Did you try hunting at night???

That is why they call it "Hunting", not "Shooting". Just be thankful that you can go hunting with a full stomach. In a lot of places around the world people go hunting on an empty stomach. Be thankful, and think positve. Tom.

I guess I can't complain. got three so far, two bucks and a doe. The bucks were during ML season and the doe during gun season. The doe was kicked up by a dog and I laid her down with my Benelli M2 and 00 buckshot. The small spike I didn't have my camera, but hte six ointer I plsted here. I did get a bead on a very large buck, but somehow I missed. that is not like me, but Murphy must have been in the stand with me that day. I hate when that happens. we still have about two weeks left and I intend to be in the woods till I can get that big guy I missed the other day. I still think it ws the one I posted here that I got on my trail cam.

Oh well. Merry Christmas to all. And good luck to all, especially you Corey!

I thought I was having a bad year as far as deer sightings, but when I checked my log book, my deer sightings were not down mch from last year. This was my first year hunting with a ML, I have been mostly hunting with a bow for the past 8 years, with a few shotgun hunts thrown iin for good measure. My bow season started around the middle of September, and runs until December 31st. ML season started the saturday after Thanksgiving, and ran for 2 weeks, (# whole weekends). We can only get 1 deer period in my area of Minnesota, and I was lucky enough to tag a doe the first weekend of ML. I did shoot at a buck with my bow, and missed him completly, and then I hit a doe with my bow, that I tracked for about 300 yards, and then lost all blood. Never did find her.[:@]Anyways, this is my season in a nutshell.

35 sits

93.5 hours

saw 16 bucks, ( a few of them more ten once)
and 20 does.

I did pass on a few smaller bucks early iin the season. So all in all, I guess I cant really call it a bad season.

I feel the same way as Cayugad. You're lucky to even be seeing deer. I've hunted a lot more than 10 days, probably closer to 20 or 22 and saw a total of 5 deer and 4 of them were onlytails. I did manage to get one nice buck that you guys know about during archery season. But that's PA hunting on public land. Same I guess as WI from what I am gathering from Cayugad. A sad but true fact. The Game Commission is not listening to the hunting public and allocating too many tags.
Now I don't expect to go out and see 10 or 15 deer a day like it used to be. But one or two would be nice.
in 47 years of hunting, this is worst year i had in the GREAT STATE OF PA.ON PUBLICLAND.

I DID NOT SEE A DEER FOR 2 WEEKS OF HUNTING, NOT 1.

WMU2G OF CLINTON COUNTY HAS TO BE WORST AREA IN STATE FOR DEER.[:@]
