BH209 price discrepancy
 

Hey everyone. Since none of my local shops carry the Blackhorn 209 I'llhave to order it. But I've found a discrepancy in price. At Midwest USA it labels it as Blackhorn 209 Substitute (10 oz.) for $29.99. At Cabela's it labels it as Blackhorn 209 (10 oz.) for $37.99. Is there a difference between these 2? I'm confused. I picked up my Pro Hunter yesterday instead of waiting til the weekend and grabbed some 777 pellets, Hornaday SST 300 gr. bullets, and Win. 209 primers. I'm eager to get some BH209 but even more anxious to just put a round through the PH :D Thanks for any help

I doubt there is any difference but if itwasme, I would skip both of those and go here.

They have the best price on BH209 that I've seen.

Thanks for the link. Didn't think about the hazardous materials shipping charge. I don't know that this powder is worth $50. I may wait until I find someone around me to carry it.

If you buy 5+ cans of it, maybe split it with someone else, you end up paying about the same price per can as other places sell it for. Something to think about.

BH209 is not cheap but if you reload or shoot other powders you can get up to around 40 pounds of powder for 1 haz-mat fee so that the fee's impact on a per can basis is fairly small. Time to hit up your friends for a bulk order.

Before I would be spending that kind of money on a can of Black Horn, I would get a powder like Triple Se7en 2f locally. Yes, you have to swab between shots.. so what. They have the same power, Triple Se7en will not crud up the breech plug openings, and neither of them are that hard to clean. Actually because you have to use solvent on the BlackHorn, I think the T7 is easier to clean.

Powder Valley is where I got mine
The first tub had been opened and most of it was missing.
I weighed it and e mailed them
They sent me a new one.
Good customer service and a great price

While BH 209 looks interesting it is not worth $50 to me. T7 has worked fine for me. Now if I can get it locally for $30 or so I would try it. If not forget it! Them old Barnes and T7 are deadly anyway!

The only differance is how much money they are makeing per can, thats about normal for the places mentioned.
If you are going to Order some order a case that way the hazmat is only 2 dollars a can and look here before going to those high priced places.

Thanks for the replies so far. A buddy of mine works at a local shop and I can get the 777 at dealer cost. Do you all recommend the pellets or loose. This is my first ML so I don't mind taking the extra time to make sure it is accurate as can be and learning as I go. I'm sure the pellets are more convenient but am I better off on the accuracy side of things to get loose? Thanks.

In your Pro Hunter, pellets would be fine. When you have more time to play try some loose powder. But first work up a good shooting load. Good luck.
