I think I will be taking mine out during regular firearms season as well.

In Wisconsin we have counties that are shotgun only in the modern season. No rifles, but muzzleloaders are legal. A scoped muzzleloader is a long range weapon compared to most shotguns. Of course I have a friend that scoped his Winchester pump shotgun (but has a Hastings barrel) and it's amazing how accurate that scoped slug gun really is.

I am sure that the rifle you picked will be a great rifle and a good shooter. Are you going to mount a scope on it? I threw a 1x on mine because of our laws, but I thought about a 2-7x32mm and then it would be for modern season as well..
Yeah, I'll most definitely put a scope on it. I might play around with it through the fiber optic sights for a little while. But ultimately I'll throw a Nikon on it. I'll probably go with a ProStaff 3-9X40 BDC.

I'm pretty loyal to Nikon. Which of their scopes would you guys recommend for a Muzzleloader?

I put a 2-7 x 33 Leupold Rifleman on mine. I used T/C Gorilla grip rings and bases. The rings arenot what I would call "high", more likemedium, and the gun feels pretty good to me.Had to remove the rear iron sight because it interfered with the scope. Don't know if that changes your thoughts on shooting irons or not, just thought I'd mention it.

I like the Nikon Pro Staff in 2-7x32 as it is a shotgun scope with lots of eye relief. Where I hunt, there are no long shots. 50 yards is pushing average, and unless I hunt a hay field, I'd never get a 150 yards shot, so the 2-7 really work well for me. I have them on two of my rifles.

SW - that's the one I put on mine. I have scopes from Bushnell, Leupold, Burris and now Nikon. They are all good scopes bu the clarity of the Burris and the Nikons to me just seem to be fantastic.
