my son smoked his deer today.
This year my son Jacob wanted to shoot a deer with his ML and he also wanted to back pack a deer. Well he got both of his wishes today. This is his first ML deer. He got her on a youth any weapon doe hunt. After he got her down the fun stopped. The 460 gr 500 S&W bullets didn't have a chance to show pentration. He shot her in the neck as she was looking at us.
We snuck up on this deer from down in a small canyon. When we climbed out of the canyon she was just over 100 yards. Something about us got her attention and she came closer. He shot her with his TC Renegade with a GM LRH stainless barrel. The load was 80 gr of Pyrodex P with a paper patched 460 gr Lee 500 S&W bullet. Ron

Nice doe. Good shooting Jacob. Congrats.
I would never carry a deer out like that in PA. 1. there are way too many ticks on the deer and 2. You would probably get shot at.

Nice shooting... congratulations. I've carried a lot of deer out like that. But I do tie a blaze orange t-shirt on them first, so at least any nut job thinking of shooting will wonder why the deer is wearing blaze orange clothing.
That's an interesting load he shoots and is clear it really does a job. Nice big doe too.. again, congratulations.

congrats! That looks like some awesome country to go hunting in - I love hunting those wide open spaces (though I don't love the long, long drag/carry back to the truck when you get something).

Back in August we didn't know if this hunt would happen,Jacob had a tumor in his left leg. It was removed in September, and messed up his chance for a elk hunt. This hunt was late enough that we thought he could go. The doctors said the tumor was a calcium deposit with scar tissue around it,and he was free to do anything he wanted. We asked about heavy packing and he said he was strong as a horse and good to go. Ron
