Default 209 transfers

A friend of mine asked me today if the 209 shotgun primer needed a firing pin to fire like a shotgun does. Tought this would be the right place to ask. He has a Traditions inline don't know if that matters. Also does he need to do anything besides change the nipple to change it over? I'm not a blackpowder hunter so I thought I would turn to you guys. Thanks for any help.

It does require a firing pin of some sort, might just be a small spike in the face of the hammer. If you go to the Traditions Rifle web site - you can find the information you might need for a conversion.

It is really hard to say what he might need unless we know what he has.

the traditions plunger style inlines that use 209s usually just have a slight nipple inside the face of the striker. Kind of like whats on the 209 cva staghorn.
