RE: The Omega Z5 Strikes again! (doe down)
ORIGINAL: Wiggy Details; The shot was 50 yards, quartering away. The bullet entered her around mid rib area and exited low through the opposet shoulder. The entry hole was really good, about the size of a quarter, but the exit wasn't great. From the hole in the shoulder bone (which broke but had a near perfect hole through it) looked like the bullets hadn't expanded too much. It took out both lungs and the heart, the blood trail waspretty good. She ran about 60 yards after the shot and piled up. Last night I got another nice doe. This time quartering towards me about 60 yards out. The shot took out the on side shoulder and the top of both lungs. The deer ran maybe 50 yards before it piled up. When I skinned it, I found the slug between the flank and skin on the off side. The only thing missing was the plastic tip. 248gr. remained for a 98.8% weight retention.Absolutely no expansion. They do the job, but no expansion. Chap |
