Default First tough day at the range

Well, I thought everything was going smoothly until I got a Barnes 250 gr TMZ stuck in my pro-hunter barrel. Everything was shot on top of 120 gr of 2f triple 7, W209 primers, and at 100 yds.

Here's the first group, shooting 250 gr SW's with supplied sabots.

OK so I'm not very good at posting images...I'll work on it. After I shot the above group, I ended up having to remove my scope once the TMZ got stuck. After finally getting everything squared away, cleaning the breech plug (because I had poured the powder out that way), I end up shooting this group. I didn't think the zero would move that much. I have Warne QD rings and a Warne maxima base. Scope is a burris fullfield 3x9x42mm. Oh well, guess I'll have to start over again (for the most part).

Well, there's nothing wrong with a inch and a half group at 100 yards Hammer, at least in my book. It's fun to strive for those one holers, but I sure don't get a lot of them. Were those SWs on the second target too, or the TMZs that you managed to load?

Semisane - I was shooting the SW's again. I tried the TMZ's but they didn't perform well on top of that load. I'll work on a load for them though.

Cayugad and Semisane - I didn't mind the groups as much as the fact that the zero dropped over an inch just by taking the scope off. I had never done that before and somehow thought the zero wouldn't move. Obviously I was wrong. Thanks all.

I never had any problem with the Warne QD rings coming back to zero. The only rings that ever gave me fits were the Burris I had. I got so disgusted with them, I sent them back and ordered Warne.

Try taking the scope off and setting it back on again... just to see what happens. It might be an interesting experiment. On my new Genesis, I used a solid mounting system this time. The rifle is easy to clean, so I decided to go with a solid mount.

Still, that is good shooting.
