Default Competition for the FPB!

Looks like the Minnie ball is making a comeback! Should be a good bullet, hope they post some ballistics soon.

Looks like it might be promising, but when it comes down to it, I can't afford either one, so I guess to me it doesn't really matter.

I emailed them and asked if they had any ballistic data on them yet. May just take a few days to get the entire website up with all the data they have.

Here is the reply I received on ballistics;

Still developing, but here is some data:
120 grains Blackhorn 209 with 250 gr TMZ ~2069 fps
120 grains Pyrodex Select with 250 gr TMZ ~2031 fps
120 grains Triple 7 FFG with 250 gr TMZ ~2050 fps
Hopefully by next fall it will be in major sporting goods retail stores!

those are some impressive numbers. Although I have a minnie ball mold and they were never accurate enough for my taste. These new Hornady FPB's might be a good thing.

The FPB shoots minute of angle groups for me but they are a ways below the sights, this looks good perhaps they will shoot closer to where the sabots shoot. I wonder if they will make them in 54 cal? The 1-38 twist of my 54 system One barrel ought too do well with them. Lee

I'm still wondering ifbore-sizedRainier copper-coated bullets would obturate enough to shoot well.They probably use a hard alloy core though.

those Rainier bullets are expensive as heck at cabelas. I was looking at them for a 10mm and bought a lee mold that casts 6 bullets at a time.

I'd like to give them a try just to see how they shoot.Also like the idea that they are a Barnes solid copper.
