Cleaning Supplies
#1
I came across this sometime ago and thoughtI would share this. It's a test about cleaning supplies vs. rust that occurs. I thought Cayugad did a similar test at one time. I'm always asked at the range whatI clean with, this can clear up any confusion as what to use in case you are a newbie at this sport.

I didn't do that test. I tested powders and how bad they rusted over time. But there was a report done in a magazine that went into detail about all the different things to clean and protect the rifles. that might even be the one.
That's an interesting read. The only problem with WD-40 is over time if you let it sit, it can make a varnish of sorts on metal. It does protect metal through. Also while Cosmoline and other greases do protect well, they are hard to apply and remove if you shoot a lot. Although if you were going to put a rifle away for an extended period of time, that might be a good choice..

For BLACK HORN 209, I have tried a number of things, so far the one that is best is a 50/50 mix of alcohal and Hoppes #9; if you use this mixture be sure to oil or use Sheath or Barricade after,I use a light coat of synthic oil after cleaning myself. Lee
