A reg MMP OR Harvester Sabot will not work with the spitfire and the Barns TMZ asthey area Boattail bullet and a Boattail bullet requires a special Sabot to maintain the stabilaty as it travels down the barrle . well you can use them but you will not get the right type of Accuracy as you would with the right type of sabot. Check with Knight and see if you can buy some of the E-Z load sabots that are blue and made for the Spitfire or TMZ.

Ron
Brad is shooting an MZ, which is not a boat tail, so tte Harvester or MMP will work. If you wanna shoot the Barnes MZ, go to the Rifle bullet made by barnes called the TSX 45/70 bullet, part number 45843, with a Crushed Rib sabot or shoot an MZ with a Crushed Rib with BlackHorn. The TSX 45/70 bullet is .458 diameter and it shoots well in my Savage. My Omegashot theMZ and supplied sabotand Blackhorn 209, 100g. With 777 you MUST swab bettween EACH shot even in the field to be able to load and for best accuracy. To swab most folks use windex and rubbing alchold mixture of 50/50. I just use a little bit of bore butter on a patch, the bore butter does not dry out as quickly and is ok for a 2nd shot. Honestly I really never ever reload, it is usually bang flop with Noslers 300g---and I am expecing the same thing with Barnes.

Some folks shootthe Barnes Boatails (TMZ and Spitfire) using a #18 washer in the bottom between the bullet and sabot, this keeps the sides of the sabot from letting the gas escape and they get great accuracy. Barnes also has just come out with a Flatbased TMZ called the TEZ I believe, you can get it off the Barnes site. Chap

had some hard experience with the barnes today. shooting them out of a omega. clean barrel or fouled i couldnt hardly get them down the barrel. My shockwaves loaded so much easier that i just gave up on the barnes. The barnes are the 285 grain with the yellow jacket. any one else have this experience??
If he is shooting a 285gr , he is shooting a spitfire MZ witch is a Boattail bullet . The Expander MZ or the redhots do not come in a 285gr bullet.

( i have 20 of the yellows left.. )
