Default Measuring Blackhorn -- One Way

Dropping Blackhorn using the old made in USA powder measure is just one way to begin a powder measurement. For some reason i need to weigh the powder after dropping it. Probably a total waste of time, but it is something necessary for my peace of mind. Last year our hunting load was a weighed 65 grain of Blackhorn.

The average weight of several drops (10), from the measure, turned out to be 64.8 grain. When the jug of Blackhorn went dry, a new full jug was put into service. The powder measure setting was left unchanged. It turns out the average weight of the powder from the new jug of Blackhorn using the old measure, is 68.1 grain.

This coming season our hunting load will be a weighed 68.1 grain. We could say our hunting load is 90 grain Blackhorn.

The ratio of weight to volume if this lot of Blackhorn is 0.756 : 1
